No need to comment...just a document shot.
I've been hoping to see an eagle all summer. It was near our beach this morning - I could see it, so grabbed my camera to take some photos. I couldn't believe my luck -- it took off right in front of me and I snapped at least 8 (what I thought would be) exciting images. Except it was set on manual from yesterday's Kuebler trail walk and was both totally overexposed from higher ISO and way too slow a shutter speed. Every image ruined and unrecoverable, but all clear enough to make clear what might have been. Lesson: ALWAYS reset my camera to A or S and, at the least, look before shooting.
oh I feel for you, I have got into the habit of changing my camera to sports mode ready for any quick images...but why is it when the first amazing opportunity comes up... I haven't... thanks for sharing your pain... I understand :)
i make the same mistake all the time, miss taffy. i'm comforted that even the best could make such a boo-boo but we'll try not to do it again. :-D still, aces on this shot.
Not a bad outcome for an accidental capture. I have a ton of bird captures taken with the wrong settings all too often they are consigned to the bit bin. Valiant attempt
Wonderful to see the eagle Taffy! The story of my life! I either have the wrong lens on or the wrong setting when the shot of a lifetime presents itself! Lol! Welcome to wildlife photography! Lol!
Well now I don't feel so bad that I totally ruined all those shots I took of the sunflower field when I failed to look at the settings on the camera! At least when you fail, you fail with a spectacular subject!
Oh I feel with you. And this happens to me often. But the most important thing is tht you saw the eagle, in realty,... it is not, that it is only true,. when you capture it. But I know how it feels, we like to share the great moments.
I'm right there with you , once I was on a miniature train trip looking for eagles , there was nothing about and I decided to put my camera away and look at the scenery the second it was back in the bag , there he was sitting proud on a tree hardly any distance away .... You have to smile at fate .
SO we all do it (or similar)! My camera is permanently on Manual, perhaps that is where I go wrong. I'm still looking for the right settings for shots of BIF. just in case I ever manage to actually get the bird in the frame that is!
I think we have all done it. I always try and remember to set my camera to auto when I put it away, so that I can at least stand a chance of getting the unexpected, Of course when the unexpected happens, it's set to manual.
Oh, how many times has He told me off for not resetting His camera when I've used it. Off to check it now. Can see that this is a lovely composed shot of a majetic bird,
