We enjoyed bringing in the new year with Junko and Bill and turned it into a marathon of eating, moving watching, picture-taking, and hanging out from New Years through tomorrow (for we hope one outdoors photo walk). We were trying to photograph the supermoon tonight and thought maybe the workout room which is 2 floors higher would be a good spot. Sadly, we hadn't considered that workout rooms have people in them working out who also seem to like having the lights on. So, it was back to the condo to shoot from our window instead (at least Jim and Bill were willing to sit in the dark!).
I love your story - how inconsiderate of those workout people!! And it is lovely to be able to put faces to both your names. I remember well that it was Junko who first suggested to me that I might like to look at Taffy's work. And it has been a wonderful year from then. All the best to both of you for 2018. Cheers Rob
Happy New Year Photo Friends! I always enjoy the back stories about your photos! I stepped outside to feed the cats, noticed the moon was full and too one photo before going back inside... 3 cheers for mild weather...nothing to rave about when it comes to marvelous foreground selections! One gets choices!
Before reading your story I thought...Geez you can't take photo devices into the gym! And then I thought you were there to work out. Nope. Look forward to your moon shots. It was way to cold outside and I couldn't see the moon from any of my windows....and I did run around the house looking
Great to see you two intrepid photographers together. Happy new year to you both. What a shame those working out didn't offer to continue in the dark - it wouldn't have made much difference to them for a short while, after all.
Great shot of you both, happy new year :-)
I can't understand people choosing to work out instead of switching the lights out to look at the super moon! Look forward to seeing the photos.
What a great start to the new year! Good to see Junko joining you too. You guys need to plan a trip out this way and join our little So Cal crew. More of that good eating as well as picture taking!
@taffy@stray_shooter -- I'm definitely interested! Just got back from a week in Pasadena with family and the weather was beautiful. Not much time for photography as it was family time, so it would be fun to go back for photography.
@stray_shooter -- next week I'm in Basel, Switzerland. Then in New Orleans the week after. Then Japan for a couple of weeks -- and then Poland for four months. Sigh. Our California adventure will have to wait awhile!
@jyokota Your schedule (always!) sounds exhausting! Well, Ron would know better what that sort of life is/was like!
@taffy You must have relished that brief time with your good friend! We'd welcome you out here...just lounge in the spa and "shoot squirrels" on a mid-day afternoon... It's not frigid here! We could make Mexican food and Margaritas... (am I selling it, Ron @stray_shooter ?)
and Junko @jyokota , looking at that schedule...you don't even travel in a straight line!!! It would seem to have idyllic overtones (and probably does!) but I'm becoming too old and too tired...it takes me a week to get over a 3-hour jet lag! (I was awake -and up- between midnight and 5 AM last night, so I'm pushing to stay UP past midnight tonight and hopefully sleep through! Egad!)
...summer plans, maybe?... Good night...I think I'll go sleep on it!
@Weezilou@jyokota Yeah, I looked at Junko's travel schedule and suddenly realized how much I'm enjoying my new life......staying home! Mexican food, margaritas and shooting squirrels, hey doesn't get much better than that! Maybe Junko might consider canceling that busy travel schedule. ;)
