They're solvable either by peeling off the plastic colour lable, or by breaking them open and reassembling correctly, failing that, buy a book telling you how to do it. Needless to say back in the 80s, I could only do it by the first 2 choices.
i did it once in the 80's or 70's. first time i saw it in college one of the students explained what was to be done and after less than ten minutes of fiddling, i got the sucker. people were impressed. never done it again since. my grandsons meanwhile when they were 7 and 5 had one of these and the buggers would do it in a snap.
