My mum was a National Trust volunteer at Ickworth House in Suffolk and she was often a room warden in the Italian Bedroom. On a 30 minute, whistle stop, tour of the house today (to stay out of the rain!) I was so pleased that "Mum's Room" was on the tour route. She thought this Murano chandelier was hideous and loved gauging vistors' reactions to it.
@salza Hmmmmmm, does that mean you can't detect it?? I don't like HDR much Sally, but to keep in the spirit of Vikki's ( @summerfield )one week only challenge I used the HDR scene in the camera and there is a bit of differentce between this and the auto one. The lighting is a tad more balanced. @peterscherub2 The house is quite fascinating- it's longer and taller (but not as deep) than Buckinham Palace!!
@30pics4jackiesdiamond subtle is always good when it comes to HDR. I am not a fan of heavily processed ones. There is enough here to bring out the details but not turn it into a cartoon like picture.
Can’t say that this would be one of my favourite chanaliers either. Will try the HDR tomorrow, apparently it is suited to some subjects but not all, I will no doubt get it wrong & there will be no difference! Did you go here with A & T?
@megpicatilly Well worth a visit (but we warned hose opens at 12 and we arrived at 11.15!! @carole_sandford It is quite hideous,(the chandelier and possibly the HDR!!) No we went alone @ludwigsdiana it is quite typical for Murano Venetian glasswork @jqf She thought so (didnt she @phil_sandford !)
I like how the colours pop on it. It's a strange design I think, so many different parts to it....waves, flowers, hanging red bits, blue cups...such a mish mash of different styles...
@suesouthwood but the detail and skill has to be admired though! @quietpurplehaze SHe always wanted a chance to blow her whistle, but said she didn't think she'd have the nerve to!!
My first thought was wow, what a chandelier! My second thought, was of Rodney and Del Boy...
As an HDR though, it's not at all bad, not in-your-face as some of them can be.
I sort of like the chandelier - in the right place. It certainly makes a statement. I had to google HDR - had no idea. I think I can see what's happening here. Will google some more about the HDRed. Cheers
@robz That should read HDR -ed as in it has had HDR in past tense. I think HDR has two effects - one is to balance out lighting effects and combine images to balance out the light and shade and another where it has details clarified and highlighted and can look cartoonish. I just used the HDR selectin on the camera!! Clever Pentax.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Hahaa - past tense!! that's a sure sigh of how little I know about this!! It's handy having it built into your camera. I tried the Picmonkey effect - it certainly leans towards the extreme results. The games officially start tonight - the opening ceremony is happening right now! We'll probably have a look at some of the events that run through the streets - but we didn't buy any tickets to other events. It's actually much easier to see on TV - even though it's not the same atmosphere. Cheers Rob

@will_wooderson it is that!!!

Are you getting excited about The Games???
