The building of Guildford Cathedral was assisted by fundraising from the sponsorship of bricks. It cost 2/6 to purchase a brick . My dad said he had one with his name on it, but there are no records to corroborate his story. More details here . Bet The Queen, Prince Philip and Queen Mary didn't pay for theirs!!!
They may not have paid for their bricks but did any public money come to help with the completion of the project? Fascinating to see their signatures in this mundane place
@randystreat well I took pics of their bricks! Guilty as charged! @ljmanning protected by perspex so difficult to capture @carolinesdreams the number of bricks sold is huge @grammyn I'm afraid I don't know, but doubt it @monicac HM doesn't carry cash apparently @wakelys didn't see it there, sorry or if have photographed for you @theredcamera we're hoping top one hangs on in there for her part in June!!! @jacqbb it is!! @taffy a very modern cathedral!!
You may be right that they did not pay for their bricks ... or they may have donated a lot more!
Who knows!
I love the royals and take every chance I can to go see them if they are close enough here in Canada.

@wendyfrost glad you thought so
I think William is kinda cut - we will take him!
But then, you may be talking about Andrew, I wonder?
We already have Harry but I guess there is enough room at his place for Andrew.
