Bun Penny by 30pics4jackiesdiamond

Bun Penny

This coin, value 1d, was minted in 1892, nine years before Queen Victoria's long reign ended. I found it today in an antique shop.

When I say 'found' I mean I sat on the floor of the shop for half an hour sifting through hundreds and hundreds of old copper coins and this was at the bottom of the box, in my final handful.

I only had a tenner on me, so the owner let me have it for nothing as she didn't have £9.90 in change in the till

I rather like this :)

That's been well handled given the wear; if it could tell stories, I wonder what it could tell ............

Is it called a bun penny because she has a bun? What a treasure to find and so worth the effort I would assume.

Oh Jackie, what a find... I used to be part of an "Antique Ladies" group when I lived in Sydney. Did we have fun " sitting on the floor" going through jumbled estate boxes. I once found a Shelly cup/saucer& plate in perfect condition & paid Aus.$5..Those were the days. 😊😊
