On our morning walk, I came across a squirrel and quietly began to take pictures at some distance. When he sat up, I moved in closer. I was surprised, in this large park, how close I was able to get to him. Finished, I stood up, and he suddenly ran right up to me! I felt *so* bad I had nothing for him!
On our way home, we stopped by the grocery for peanuts in the shell. I hope we'll meet again.
Ah...that's a great picture!
I have a squirrel that usually comes around here in the Spring, but I have yet to see him this year.
I watch him hide his nuts in my garden and then come back in the fall to dig them all up again. He knows exactly where every single one is.
I know some people call them "rats with tails" but I find them highly intelligent and quite charming.
Where I live, I've only ever seen a limited number of squirrels in our nearby Mile Square Park. It was such a surprise that this one literally ran up to my feet! I was delighted!
Very good picture. I can't believe you are this close, so he probably has been fed before. In our park they have asked us not to feed the ducks because they have gotten a little too fiesty!
look at the attitude on his face! love that. I had an arguement with a squirrel once...they look you right in the face and chatter at you. Not sure if it's funny or unnerving!
Thanks for the comment... I really am enjoying this SOOC series as well...... tho I really can't say that It's saving me as much time. I just spend that extra time browsing 365 and/or taking more pictures..... so the spring cleaning hasn't been done yet.....
Hmm.... that gives me an idea..... A spring cleaning series..... I'll get my cleaning done and take some pictures.... It's a win win...... :-)
Awwww, how sweet. I love squirrels, even though they do take over my bird feeders and chase away the pretty little birds. How neat that this one wanted to meet you, close up and personal. It's a wonderful photo. I can just picture you buying peanuts and hoping you'll meet this little guy again.
I just love squirrels :) Charlie is still my favorite squirrel...but he is the same way! He had to have been hand fed before...either that...or squirrels are just super friendly creatures that are really used to humans!
Thanks for sharing your squirrel stories with me here in your comments! Armed with peanuts I had great success with the park squirrels today and nobody went away disappointed!
Just back from a weekend away---------------very cute little friend! I bet he can't wait for the peanuts next time :o). Thanks for the comment on my snowman, it wasn't the picture I had planned but it just spoke to me as I went to post it. I went back out and shot it again with the little additions!
I'm looking forward to joining the LA-area 365 participants on Apr 10 at Alex's suggestion. I look forward to meeting others of you whom I know live in the area! Looks like a good excuse of any others to visit Southern California! Come on down!
squirrels are funny. i was taking a picture of something near a tree the other day and one just ran up to me like it was my buddy! maybe it was the same one hahaha. i love it.
This is so stinkin' cute! We have squirrels that LOVE to tease my dog. They just hang out on the fence and dangle their bushy tails just egging him on. He'll run towards the fence and knock it with all his might and the squirrels just effortlessly jump into a tree. I also remember a friend of mine that was deathly afraid of squirrels. It so happens that one day she was walking to class and a squirrel jumped down from a tree and landed on her. Oh I wish I could have been there to see. She said she made quite the show. Needless to say, I'm sure this picture would frighten her... hahaha :)
