Real Live RD for Betty Co-Ed by Weezilou

Real Live RD for Betty Co-Ed

School is about to be out for our college student, Jessica Waguespack, and I wanted to give her a big sendoff for her summer holiday!

Jessica's been taking exams all week with her little pal, "RD" at her side http://365project.org/jessicaw/365/2010-04-27 In spite of her late hours, she took time to share in the recent "Holiday" Autumn threw for me and shared her computer time for some research fun http://365project.org/jessicaw/365/2010-04-28 . I know she can hardly wait to get home to be with her family and a house full of pets. Can't wait to see her summertime photos; she's about to have a lot more fun!

A few notes to pass along here... Needed a place to compile some fun we've been having so everyone can get in on the fun... Many of us have been engaging in what's come to be known as *365 Speak* and it involves an insider's vocabulary. Have you noticed? Allison introduced "Onion": When you find out a tidbit you didn't know about somebody. Kerri brought us "Plan B": a wee tipple when absolutely needed. "POP-ular": the Monkeys have noticed you, has been springing up and let's give that one to Denise... Chris brought us "R": Radioactive, after CH&G had a China Syndrome escapade. And our Jessica introduced us to "RD" for Rubber Ducky (even CH&G have one for their next bubble bath).

UPDATE: I'm up to page 5 of all the many many photos you sent me. I'm getting to each of you as soon as I can, but I'm really enjoying every photo along the way. Just when I think I'm catching up, more come in, so I'm going to be awhile getting all my thank you notes written! You guys are just **The Best**!

And about today's photo... Ken and I were enjoying a little Plan B yesterday around 5 when we heard something that sounded for all the world like RD's! Ken looked around and started laughing for we had *three* in the pool! Since two's company and three's a crowd, two soon chased one off! It's not a prize winner in the photo department, but it was a big surprise in my day! And who doesn't love a real live RD?
With so much going on for you Louise and you still have time to upload a picture and remember others in your comments. I'd love some ducks in my pond..mind you, having a swimming pool would be quite cool!!!! Probably literally here in UK!!!

Louise have a lovely holiday.

We once had some ducks in our pool and the babies need help to get out.
April 30th, 2010
that is sooo cool and cute!!
April 30th, 2010
Louise, this is a lovely image and story! Those two ducks look so at home there though I feel sorry for the third one that was chased off! It sounds like you're very busy so it's great that you're finding the time to continue to share with us your photos.
April 30th, 2010
Oh I love real live RD, the two of them look pretty happy to be there. I had thought about taking a few pictures of some at the park today just didn't get there, maybe tomorrow.

Thanks for the comment today it's true there is beauty all around, and I feel so blessed to be here.
April 30th, 2010
I love ducks in the pool... except... they sure do poop a lot and I am the pool cleaner of the house. We had Mr. and Mrs. Duck stay with us for awhile then a 3rd duck came and ruined everything. He chased Mr. and Mrs. Duck away. The next day the two boy ducks came back to hang out without Mrs. Duck. Duck drama in the yard! : ]
April 30th, 2010
We get a pair of mallards at our bird feeder just about every day - we can tell it's the same pair because the male has a distinctive white spot on his otherwise iridescently green head! We call them Mr. & Mrs. Mallard (original, huh?) and I try to put out extra corn or bread for them. Nice capture!
April 30th, 2010
oh, i do love mallards. the colours in this photo are too lovely!
April 30th, 2010
You crack me up. If I start seeing this stuff in the Urban Dictionary, then I will know that we have hit the big time.
April 30th, 2010
You are great, noticing new vocabulary! Thanks for the comment on the profile photo. Now I know why PE8 was such a great investemnt..it takes years off!
April 30th, 2010
Love it! We've had ducks in and out of the creek in my parents backyard as long as I can remember.
April 30th, 2010
You are TOO funny, Louise! I *love* that you're keeping all of us up on 365-speak! Slight correction in order however ... I believe it's Plan B. I'll go find the introduction of this voab right now - I think I can find it!
April 30th, 2010
wow...now you don't have to go to the park to look for them..they go to your house!! i hope you enjoyed the photos, Louise. You truly deserve it. You insipre many of us with your words everyday. Even on days when everything's crap, it's funny how you, someone I haven't really met, can pick me up.
April 30th, 2010
that would be vocab and here's the origibnal introducyion of Plan B ... http://365project.org/kerri26/365/2010-04-23

April 30th, 2010
I'm ready to dive into that lovely water! So beautiful! (PS...I would wait to dive in til the ducks were gone :)
April 30th, 2010
Great shot Louise - the water is so clear, you could touch it.
April 30th, 2010
this picture is very refreshing =)
April 30th, 2010
hahaha, i wonder if Ken thought/said 'there you go again' or 'you and your 365 again!' while you were taking photos of these lovely mallards!
April 30th, 2010
Beautiful shot! That water looks so refreshing, no wonder those ducks wanted to go for a swim in your pool!
April 30th, 2010
at first I thought they were photoshopped in the picture!!! Thats amazing!! Thank you for sharing the new vocabulary--I was wondering what "onion' meant!! :) After work today I definitely will need a Plan B!!! :)
April 30th, 2010
And this is why you're such a popular girl here Louise. You're a good photographer, and you take the time to give people special recognition. You still rock!
April 30th, 2010
Louise ... I am confused! Is this comment meant for me? I thought you already knew that I live in Aspen, CO, and taught skiing for 21 years before going into an elementary classroom? If not, we've got A LOT of catching up to do! LOL! Denise

"...hmmm...for some reason I thought I wasn't following you, but it could be I don't pay very good attention...doesn't seem like I always see your pic on my home page. I was going to remedy that, but it tells me we're already a match made in Heaven...so, I guess I've been following you for a long time... As Martha would say, "That's a Good Thing" :-)

...so...you live at the top of a ski lift somewhere there in CO?"
April 30th, 2010
ohhhhhh, the water is so beautiful, shimmering with the sunlight, and i always love the ducks...
April 30th, 2010
Lucky ducks! I love the colors of the ducks and the pool! Really beautiful!
April 30th, 2010
This photo is just "ducky"----very cute and right in your own backyard, how cool is that!
April 30th, 2010
Oh my goodness, how cute! I've never seen ducks in a pool before... what a surprise that must have been :)
April 30th, 2010
Not to worry ... I'm amazed at all you remember about each one of us! (You follow and are followed by A LOT of people, Ms. POP-ular!
April 30th, 2010
wow.. the colours really hit you... (notice colours spelt the right way...lol...) only kidding :-)
April 30th, 2010
Lovely vibrant picture! How much fun to share your pool with real duckies! ; )
April 30th, 2010
First of all, GREAT photo!!! I love me some real life RD ;)

but umm, I'm still confused about the *365 speak*...I have seen "onion" somewhere a couple times...but it totally confused me. what is it for? are the code words?
April 30th, 2010
The water is such a gorgeous colour and picked up so well on the photograph
April 30th, 2010
Fun duckies!
Louise, the text below my picture is actually a poem by Uruguayan poet Mario Benedetti.
You can read an English translation here: http://www.math.mcmaster.ca/riosc/written/salvesi.html
It's one of my favourite poems ever. :)
April 30th, 2010
How cute!
April 30th, 2010
Love ducks! You guys are all having so much fun -- no wonder I can't keep up. Just reading through this takes quite some time. Great shot, Louise :)
April 30th, 2010
Love the vivid colours!! Great capture Louise :)
April 30th, 2010
Mr RD is spectacular isn't he, I love that iridescence and the pool is shimmering too, what a lovely pic. We have two ducks that live on our lake, it's so lovely to see them every day, they keep coming up to the house to say 'FEED ME'. I do but down by the lake, otherwise they'd be in the house and that could get messy! Thanks again for all your lovely comments
April 30th, 2010
The colors of the water are spectacular. Wow.
April 30th, 2010
louise... not sure I understand the second comment...
May 1st, 2010
how delightful. They look so happy in the pool! What a cute story to go with the pic.
Thanks for catching me up on 365 Speak. On that note, Sytse just went back to his room so it's time for Plan B.

i LOVE ducks. they are kinda my squirrels! well i haven't taken pictures of them but i have some stories about them. anyway, so cute!!

thanks for the message. yes, there was another picture of me arranging, on jojo's page. she was there when i was making my creation for you. (and yes, there have been no peeps for quite a while now, oops) I would LOVE LOVE to meet with you and any one else. that would be so great. i was sad when i couldn't make the LA gathering. i will certainly check out your shutterfly. i wish i had more time right now, in general for 365. i started a new job and it's hard getting back into sitting 8 hours a day and being so busy but it's great, i love it. i get to use my photoshop/lightroom skills. anyway, thanks again. you make this great world seem so much brighter!
May 1st, 2010
Louise, I will miss you this summer! Yes, I moved to CO from NB in 1980! I love the summers but the winters can get a little long (like this one!) I bet that NS is beautiful-----I hope to see a few photos of your summer dwelling and, of course, the local wildlife :o))))))))
May 1st, 2010
Louise - yes the *onion* did make sense to me. Also, earlier today I reached *POP-ular* status with my alpaca balanced on 3 legs.

Did you ever read the children's classic, "Make Way for Ducklings"? These 2 could have been blown off course on their way to The Boston Commons!
May 2nd, 2010
"Make Way for Ducklings" is one of the earliest books I can remember from my childhood. I love seeing yellow signs posted up in NS with Duck silhouettes where they cross! And yes, I've seen the darling bronze duck statues in the boston Commons...You might not be surprised I have a (film) picture of it...somewhere...
