School is about to be out for our college student, Jessica Waguespack, and I wanted to give her a big sendoff for her summer holiday!
Jessica's been taking exams all week with her little pal, "RD" at her side http://365project.org/jessicaw/365/2010-04-27 In spite of her late hours, she took time to share in the recent "Holiday" Autumn threw for me and shared her computer time for some research fun http://365project.org/jessicaw/365/2010-04-28 . I know she can hardly wait to get home to be with her family and a house full of pets. Can't wait to see her summertime photos; she's about to have a lot more fun!
A few notes to pass along here... Needed a place to compile some fun we've been having so everyone can get in on the fun... Many of us have been engaging in what's come to be known as *365 Speak* and it involves an insider's vocabulary. Have you noticed? Allison introduced "Onion": When you find out a tidbit you didn't know about somebody. Kerri brought us "Plan B": a wee tipple when absolutely needed. "POP-ular": the Monkeys have noticed you, has been springing up and let's give that one to Denise... Chris brought us "R": Radioactive, after CH&G had a China Syndrome escapade. And our Jessica introduced us to "RD" for Rubber Ducky (even CH&G have one for their next bubble bath).
UPDATE: I'm up to page 5 of all the many many photos you sent me. I'm getting to each of you as soon as I can, but I'm really enjoying every photo along the way. Just when I think I'm catching up, more come in, so I'm going to be awhile getting all my thank you notes written! You guys are just **The Best**!
And about today's photo... Ken and I were enjoying a little Plan B yesterday around 5 when we heard something that sounded for all the world like RD's! Ken looked around and started laughing for we had *three* in the pool! Since two's company and three's a crowd, two soon chased one off! It's not a prize winner in the photo department, but it was a big surprise in my day! And who doesn't love a real live RD?
With so much going on for you Louise and you still have time to upload a picture and remember others in your comments. I'd love some ducks in my pond..mind you, having a swimming pool would be quite cool!!!! Probably literally here in UK!!!
Louise, this is a lovely image and story! Those two ducks look so at home there though I feel sorry for the third one that was chased off! It sounds like you're very busy so it's great that you're finding the time to continue to share with us your photos.
Oh I love real live RD, the two of them look pretty happy to be there. I had thought about taking a few pictures of some at the park today just didn't get there, maybe tomorrow.
Thanks for the comment today it's true there is beauty all around, and I feel so blessed to be here.
I love ducks in the pool... except... they sure do poop a lot and I am the pool cleaner of the house. We had Mr. and Mrs. Duck stay with us for awhile then a 3rd duck came and ruined everything. He chased Mr. and Mrs. Duck away. The next day the two boy ducks came back to hang out without Mrs. Duck. Duck drama in the yard! : ]
We get a pair of mallards at our bird feeder just about every day - we can tell it's the same pair because the male has a distinctive white spot on his otherwise iridescently green head! We call them Mr. & Mrs. Mallard (original, huh?) and I try to put out extra corn or bread for them. Nice capture!
You are great, noticing new vocabulary! Thanks for the comment on the profile photo. Now I know why PE8 was such a great investemnt..it takes years off!
You are TOO funny, Louise! I *love* that you're keeping all of us up on 365-speak! Slight correction in order however ... I believe it's Plan B. I'll go find the introduction of this voab right now - I think I can find it!
wow...now you don't have to go to the park to look for them..they go to your house!! i hope you enjoyed the photos, Louise. You truly deserve it. You insipre many of us with your words everyday. Even on days when everything's crap, it's funny how you, someone I haven't really met, can pick me up.
Love the blue of the water Louise. I have been thinking of you and how sore your fingers must be from all the typing you are doing. I appreciate the lovely heartfelt comment you left me.
oh yay! real RD's!!! if you didnt figure this out yourself, i am finishing my freshman year in college! and i leave today so you might get to see a photo from something at my house later today :) thank you soo much for celebrating with me! now im just hoping that i got good final grades. i will be sure to let you know when i find out, which will be on.....monday i believe
at first I thought they were photoshopped in the picture!!! Thats amazing!! Thank you for sharing the new vocabulary--I was wondering what "onion' meant!! :) After work today I definitely will need a Plan B!!! :)
And this is why you're such a popular girl here Louise. You're a good photographer, and you take the time to give people special recognition. You still rock!
Louise ... I am confused! Is this comment meant for me? I thought you already knew that I live in Aspen, CO, and taught skiing for 21 years before going into an elementary classroom? If not, we've got A LOT of catching up to do! LOL! Denise
"...hmmm...for some reason I thought I wasn't following you, but it could be I don't pay very good attention...doesn't seem like I always see your pic on my home page. I was going to remedy that, but it tells me we're already a match made in Heaven...so, I guess I've been following you for a long time... As Martha would say, "That's a Good Thing" :-)
...so...you live at the top of a ski lift somewhere there in CO?"
First of all, GREAT photo!!! I love me some real life RD ;)
but umm, I'm still confused about the *365 speak*...I have seen "onion" somewhere a couple times...but it totally confused me. what is it for? are the code words?
Fun duckies!
Louise, the text below my picture is actually a poem by Uruguayan poet Mario Benedetti.

It's one of my favourite poems ever. :)
Mr RD is spectacular isn't he, I love that iridescence and the pool is shimmering too, what a lovely pic. We have two ducks that live on our lake, it's so lovely to see them every day, they keep coming up to the house to say 'FEED ME'. I do but down by the lake, otherwise they'd be in the house and that could get messy! Thanks again for all your lovely comments
how delightful. They look so happy in the pool! What a cute story to go with the pic.
Thanks for catching me up on 365 Speak. On that note, Sytse just went back to his room so it's time for Plan B.
i LOVE ducks. they are kinda my squirrels! well i haven't taken pictures of them but i have some stories about them. anyway, so cute!!
thanks for the message. yes, there was another picture of me arranging, on jojo's page. she was there when i was making my creation for you. (and yes, there have been no peeps for quite a while now, oops) I would LOVE LOVE to meet with you and any one else. that would be so great. i was sad when i couldn't make the LA gathering. i will certainly check out your shutterfly. i wish i had more time right now, in general for 365. i started a new job and it's hard getting back into sitting 8 hours a day and being so busy but it's great, i love it. i get to use my photoshop/lightroom skills. anyway, thanks again. you make this great world seem so much brighter!
Louise, I will miss you this summer! Yes, I moved to CO from NB in 1980! I love the summers but the winters can get a little long (like this one!) I bet that NS is beautiful-----I hope to see a few photos of your summer dwelling and, of course, the local wildlife :o))))))))
oh Louise..*giggle*..dont feel bad...itw asnt my real birthday....the kids at work threw me a "4 year old" birthday party complete with sand cakes...haha..my real birthday isnt until August ;)
Yay for ducks!! :) I love this shot so much, its so fun and the lovely blue water is so clear and gorgeous. That little guy and gal look like they are having so much fun!
Louise i made it a fav. what a handsome couple and right there in your pool. amazing i would have been surprised as well. great picture. thanks for sharing.
"Make Way for Ducklings" is one of the earliest books I can remember from my childhood. I love seeing yellow signs posted up in NS with Duck silhouettes where they cross! And yes, I've seen the darling bronze duck statues in the boston Commons...You might not be surprised I have a (film) picture of it...somewhere...
We once had some ducks in our pool and the babies need help to get out.
