At 6:30 this morning, I woke and thought I should check out back to see if Dill was waiting... He seemed delighted to come in and have some breakfast, as though he didn't have a house of his own a couple doors up the street! When he was finished, I put him out and went back to bed. When I got up again, there he was, still sitting out on the deck...and he was ready for food and treats again! I decided to mark the number of visits on a chalk board, and by tonight, he'd come in 7 times today and I think, never left our yard. It cheers my heart that he seems as happy that we're here, as I am to have a wonderful cat around the house.
Went for our morning walk out in Blue Rocks, and I have some wonderful pictures. "My three guys" thought I should post a picture from there on 365 for the day, but I had to follow my heart with this one. If you'd interested, http://365daysintheyear.shutterfly.com/1162
(I also have pictures of the Apple Dapple Cake I made for "Lobster Night" and posted the recipe with those pictures as well...it comes highly recommended! http://365daysintheyear.shutterfly.com/1130 )
We had a shared dinner tonight with Billy, Dave & Dill (Kerri noticed I included Dill as a dinner guest, but I think you can see we'd hardly exclude him!) We had all those side dishes from last night's dinner, and Ken bbq'd chicken. We've had some sensational weather; it hasn't rained a minute since I posted that picture of Ken with the umbrella!
I love Dill and the framing of this shot!! Beautiful photo, Louise!! It seems that Dill has found himself a second (or primary?) home! 7 extra meals - I was worried that I sould put Tao on a diet, but I see that other kitties have healthy appetites, too! :-) Me and my husband have been joking that Tao is addicted to Miew Mix (that's the food he loves), because he shows up at our door at 5 in the morning! He miews, and jumps, and tries to get the door open, and he doesn't quit until i crawl out of bed and feed him. Makes me wonder what do they put in cat food these days...
Much easier to borrow the neighbor's cat when you need one...sort of like grandchildren. Love 'em, feed 'em, play with 'em and then send them home! LOL
Your story reminds me of TWO children;s books ... For the Love of Autumn by Patricia Polacco and Six-Dinner Sid by Inga Moore. Have I mentioned that I *love* children's books?!!?
I'm just catching up on everyone's photos from the last couple of days. I just looked at all the photos on your blog and you must have the hardest time trying to pick one to post. All your photos are wonderful. It's so nice for me to see other places that I've never been and you are in one beautiful place! The boys said they would love to meet Dill...LOL.
That is so sweet.... love the photograph and the fact that Dill knows there's a good home next door. Just bought a pot of dill last week... will think of that pretty cat every time I use it.
What a great photo of Dill - just sitting waiting! :D
Thank you so much Louise, for the recipe of your Apple Dapple Cake - I have printed the recipe & can harldy wait to try it out.
Will let you know when I do! :D
Dill is a very pretty cat, and I like the way you took the photograph. It's funny how cats can be so independent and yet, want to be so close, too. That's how my mom's cat is too.
what a lovely white cat - you are so lucky he's adopted you as his second home - and he looks especially gorgeous sitting on that blue decking - really sets him off perfectly
He is very pretty and I think his name is just perfect. You are lucky to have such a frequent visitor it didnt take him long to work out who was serving the best food!
Gorgeous, Louise! You are having just th best time! I loved your comment about the lego picture when you said you were left to 'noodle' around 365! lol I know just what you mean.....
@Michelle, you were right on your first note that he comes here for food. I feed him "on demand, what he wants, and I keep a jar of treats"...It's like a "grandmother thing" I suspect...
@Richard, we did give him a little lobster, but he just licked the butter off of it! Fussy cat!
such a cute feline!
I had more or less 20 pet cats when I was a kid until my high school years, then came college I moved to a bigger City to study, and so sad when I came home there were only 3 left. I asked mom why, she didn't know what happened to them... :(
... Regarding your comment on the truck, for me...well, men/boys sometimes just want to be all by themselves enjoying being alone, being in control. lol
the framing is perfect! love your fingers pulling the curtains back. are these little furry things just a hoot! so full of character. i love me a good kitteh photo!
Thank you for the lovely compliment on my tiger photo...
This kitty in your picture is awesome!!!I love white kitties! Cats are awesome to photograph! Great job!
how gorgeous! i saw your other pics in shutterfly, they are all expressions of how happy your summer days are! i was reading tiina's comment above and had a laugh (about the 'crush')!
What a beautiful cat Dil is, lovely capture Louise. Will check out your shutterfly too. I love lobster, but sooooo much a luxury here - only for very special occasions!
I'm so glad you chose to add this one...I'm sure you got some super lovely shots on your little morning walk...but Dill is soo cute!!! once again Louise...I really appreciate your comments. I DID get your comment from yesterday...I just havnt had time to respond right away :P but here I am, thanking you from the bottom of my heart < 3 :) :)
very sweet! I did get your other email add and will send you a quick note when things get back to normal.. so much to do for the moment but will be in touch soon! :) wolfville tomorrow night and northern NS on the weekend!
I took a quick peak at your shutterfly... looks like you had a great time in Blue Rocks. Hope to find time to take a closer look at your photos. I love the South Shore but don't get down that way often.
Dill is a cute and persistent cat. I am sure he like the treats but I am thinking he enjoys the company too. So interesting to read your thoughts and view the pictures in the link. Thanks for the comments on my photos, you know I had to take advantage the chance to get pictures of the baby ducks.
How cute for Dill to decide to stay at your place!
I have the similar story too: a white cat who decided to stay at our place. I'll put the picture next :)
Sweet kitty! I'd have trouble leaving such a furry friend. I once had an all white cat named Boomer. One day, he just up and left, breaking my heart. I should have looked for him two doors down, right? *sigh*
Thank you so much Louise, for the recipe of your Apple Dapple Cake - I have printed the recipe & can harldy wait to try it out.
Will let you know when I do! :D
Thank you so much for your comment on my chess photo! You're too kind!
