Little Boy kneels at the foot of the bed,
Droops on the little hands little gold head.
Hush! Hush! Whisper who dares!
Christopher Robin is saying his prayers.
God bless Mummy. I know that's right.
Wasn't it fun in the bath to-night?
The cold's so cold, and the hot's so hot.
Oh! God bless Daddy - I quite forgot.
If I open my fingers a little bit more,
I can see Nanny's dressing-gown on the door.
It's a beautiful blue, but it hasn't a hood.
Oh! God bless Nanny and make her good.
Mine has a hood, and I lie in bed,
And pull the hood right over my head,
And I shut my eyes, and I curl up small,
And nobody knows that I'm there at all.
Oh! Thank you, God, for a lovely day.
And what was the other I had to say?
I said "Bless Daddy," so what can it be?
Oh! Now I remember it. God bless Me.
Little Boy kneels at the foot of the bed,
Droops on the little hands little gold head.
Hush! Hush! Whisper who dares!
Christopher Robin is saying his prayers.
...it was another really good one... "Thank you, God, for a lovely day..."
Thanks for the kind words. When I opened my eyes this morning (it's the door next to the bed), it struck me that even this would make a photo for the day as it's been arranged like that since I bought it at a flea market many years back.
Oh...I love this!
Oh Louise..."I quite forgot" this poem that my mom and dad used to read to us when we were little!
How precious!
Love the vignette..the beautiful crocheted dress, the sign, and the dark door. Gorgeous!
Thanks for the smile :-)
So special, Louise! I love dainty vintage things and this is so beautiful. Great photo.I had forgotten all about that poem - it reminds me of my childhood (I had it in a book of poetry as a child)!
What a lovely photo to go with a heart-touching passage! And, yes, I'd love that soup recipe - I'll have Nique translate it! Friends of mine have an avocado tree that has the most incredible, creamy avos - hmmm, may need to put that on my photo "list" ... Here's my email addy: dvetromile@aspenk12.net
the poem goes perfectly with the picture. It reminded me of my mum, who used to sing the first verse of this to me when I was a little girl, and it brought a little tear to my eye, as I haven't heard it for many years.
Like to mention to you and all the other friends how much i enjoy all your poems as to me they are all knew. i only know poems i learned as a child in Germany. so i love the pictures and the captions/poems.
Louise this is so beautiful and it goes really well with your lovely picture. thanks so much.
This is exquisite Louise!! It has such a quaint feeling to it. What a lovely poem to go along with the picture. I always enjoy looking at whatever you might post for the day.
Louise, you just find lovely words and pictures wherever you go, don't you! You are blessed! I do believe that happiness is a state of mind that we can chose...I believe that you have chosen well!

I too had forgotten the poem.
We have been away visiting Bernie's sister - no internet for 4 days - so have a lot of catching up to do.
I am looking forward to it :D
Inspired by you and Lauren. :-)
