Let's hear it for our hairdressers, their talent and hard work that goes into satisfying us! Judy has never failed me, and, given how hard it is to get an appointment, I think she's greatly appreciated by many others as well! She asked about my 365 project and how it's progressing (probably prompted by seeing the camera!) and I asked if she wouldn't mind being my theme representative. "Thanks, Judy! I only wish I could take you traveling with me!"
Hey, I got my hair cut today, too! I almost took a shot there, but decided not to. Don't know why - I just wasn't ready I guess. Looks like Judy's doing a nice job. Hairdressers are VERY important workers in our lives! Great shot!
Great shot for the theme, you should tag it for the workers theme :) You look beautiful in this shot too, your look seems to be saying, "ooo, I look pretty"
Love it when you find a good hair stylist. My guy Gerard is camera shy - I tried to persuade him to be photographed.... may have to do a sneaky one sometime and then show him how gorgeous he is. I think that's a great photograph which emphasises all the buzz that there is in a salon.
I had the same hairdresser for 30 years in NZ. I wish I could have brought him with me to Australia. He has overseas clients that fly back to NZ every 6 weeks for a haircut. Not on my budget sadly! After some bad haircuts here I have finally found a new haidresser I am happy with.
I HATE having my hair cut. No sooner than I think I have found a good hairdresser (that I can afford, they're all expensive around here) than they cut it differently and I don't like it. Grrr.
Fun shot. When you find someone who cuts the way you like to wear your hair, it is hard to give them up. Having moved so often with my job, I understand how hard it is to find someone who can cut to what I think my vision is . Excellent execution on this photo.
Great picture and yes hair cutting is a very delicate business and once you have found somebody that cuts your hair that you like it and feel comfortable with it, you're in heaven.
Super shot!! What a great idea for a pic and it looks great! Glad you've a good hairdresser, I dont trust em (having all my haircuts go wrong) so I've cut my own for the last 20 years..! lol.
Wonderful shot - just perfect for the theme!
Re: your comment, I haven't heard any warnings about hearing loss for ensemble performers, but it's something to consider!
This is a wonderful theme shot! I've never been able to get into going to the hairdresser's, although I certainly appreciate the need for a good one. I know so many women love going, but I find it tedious. My answer? Long hair! (Although I do need to go get a trim... blech!)
Good shot! I echo everyone's comment on finding a good hairdresser & keeping them.
It is a bit frightening when you are travelling & have to have a hair cut - you don't know what to expect :D
I'm sure all women have their horror story of one or more bad experiences. I join the ranks. Currently I'm very fortunate that my company has an Excellent hairdresser. Yes, right here at the office, she has a salon and serves only employees. Just like Judy, it's difficult to get an appointment - usually it's at least a 6-week wait and you must take the appointment you can get. But, she's so worth it!
I don't think I would able to be a hairdresser. First of all, I wouldn't want to touch a lot of people's hair. xD Also, they have a remarkable understanding of people's lives. They have to keep track of whose kids are whose, etc, so that they have something to talk about while they're doing your hair! I don't have a good memory, or people skills. xD
This is a great photo, though! xD
i am out of town----conference and Parent's Weekend------and have been MIA but had to leave a comment about your adorable photo and tribute to your hairdresser! I agree with you---my hairdresser is so important to me and has become a friend over the many years that she has pampered me!. Let's all thank these dedicated people who help us feel "beautiful'
what a great shot--one i'm sure you would have not thought to take had it not been for 365! i love being pushed to document, and therefore examine and enjoy more, even the everyday things with this project. and i simply couldn't get by without my hairdresser--my life would be a lot less 'colorful'! (:
oh this is so cute! (it sounds strange but that's the first word came into my mind :)) i see you are getting ready for your trip! can't wait to see you again! thanks for your wonderful comments on all my photos. you are always so kind!
It must be that time for haircuts. I had mine cut this week too, though mine doesn't require a great deal of skill. Just a couple passes with the clippers set on the "zero" setting and my few hairs are history.
Great picture, you look so happy!
I always postpone going to the hairdresserĀ“s, I donĀ“t like having to sit in front of a big mirror looking at my own face for too long and having to make conversation...I guess maybe I just haven't found the right hairdresser yet.....
@fotofem I too agree there's something unsettling about having to look into a mirror at this stage of a haircut! I'm not even happy looking at my face here, reflected in the mirror, but I posted it for the cause of the theme! 365 has made us take some often-unnatural actions!
Who took care of you during the summer? Were you lucky enough to find TWO great hairdressers? I love the fact that Judy agreed to be part of your 365 pic, but I think it's the lady behind you in the mirror who needs a bit of reassurance about your photography. *teehee*:-)
Our local, and there is only one, is great. My boss and I both go to her and we almost need to rebook as we are leaving. Good of yours to be in the theme shot. Congrats on PP.
oh! and you're on the popular page!!! yay louise!! (and thanks for your sweet comment on my breast cancer shot! that means sooo much to me coming from you!! ) ((hugs))
My husband and I cut each other's hair. You might think it would be very convenient but we actually are very undisciplined about keeping our "appointments" Oh well, you can't beat the price!
Thanks Louise to let me know about Barbara's list. Actually your post of that day reminded me not to forget the support day, thank you!
Judy seems to be very talented hairdresser, love the composition, it's so natural.
By the way, I cut with my hairdresser more than 15 years, when you trust in them, it's hard to change wherever you are, isn't it?
you look so happy. the girl in the background.... she does not look to happy about her haircut though. The hairdresser doing her hair seems to think he is just super duper magically. Judy is shy and quiet?
@sissybufu ...I think the girl in the background was observing the photos being taken...Ken took several, and she's "watching" in them all. James, in the background, is super nice and has cut my hair several times...quite a looker! Judy...she could talk your ear off, but was focused on the job during the photos. I asked beforehand, and she was happy to have pictures taken but didn't look at the camera. Too bad...she's very pretty.
LOVE my time with Jodi. I also always enjoy showing you all the results now that I have gotten over my shyness with my portraits! I like this shot...and perfect for the theme!
One of the IMPORTANT workers in our lives! Great shot! If I am satisfied with a haircut (which isn't always LOL) I ALWAYS leave a BIG tip - hoping that they'll remember me and what they did that satisfied me!
@ellen I'm probably thinking how I hate to have to sit in front of a big mirror and look at myself looking like that! But all in the name of 365 necessities!
Great shot Louise! My part-time job at night is working in a hair salon. It's a one person salon and he's a friend of mine since highschool. He works out of his home and lives only 5 minutes from me. I've been doing this now for 16 years. It makes for a long day but I must say...I sure have heard a lot of interesting stories : ) By the way, I don't do hair...that would be so scary. I may have even told you this story before so sorry if it was a repeat...lol.
