Opinionated

I had something to say, and today my letter to the Editor was in the newspaper (Nova Scotia's Chronicle Herald). I thought if they chose to print it, it might possibly be edited, but instead they made a headline out of the portion in question. I'd love to know how many letters newspapers and magazines receive as I've been published each time I've written. If you'd care to read the letter that prompted my response, and another on the subject, just enlarge the picture...and hope it all fits!
Great writing, Louise! I always commend people who voice their opinions in this manner.

I think people outside the L.A. should definitely count their blessings are far as traffic is concerned. People here in Tucson complain about the traffic and I can't help but think of how much worse it is in California. Very cool to have your piece printed!

I think it is so important to make your voice heard. Good for you! I was astounded to read of your California highway story! That is taking tit for tat to a whole new level!

Go you Louise! Well said!

@allie912 The California story is bizarre in the extreme, but you put it well, and I, too, see the dark humor in it!

Very well said. I think we've all seen the good, the bad, and the ugly wherever you are from. Everyone thinks where they live has the worst drivers (hello St. Louis!). In spite of that lady's opinion, I'd still like to visit that area and drive around taking pictures!

Makes me want to visit Luenburg, even more! I lived lots of places but the worse was Boston. Among the numerous issues there - people drive the wrong way on a one way street, then get out of their car and come pound on your car and threaten you - even though you're going the direction of the arrow. Someone forgot to tell them One Way does not mean you get to choose which way! I even lived in L.A. in the 90's when freeway shootings were Los Angelenos' answer to policing bad driving. I came up with a solution - not a legal one - but a fun idea to kick around. I wanted to carry around a paint ball gun and shoot the cars that were being driven by agressive and/or dangerous people. The colorful paint on the car would alert everyone else on the freeway that the driver is an idiot and to stay clear. I even considered color coding based on offenses - red for excessive speed and weaving in/out of traffic, orange for not driving between the lines, etc. Good for you for speaking up and pointing out a good situation when you see it.

you tell 'em louise! all our drivers here are perfect....even the blind ones!

@sytse Kathleen, I'll have to pass your story on to my Boston-based daughter. When we visit, we always cringe at the maniacs on the road.

Nice job Louise, and very well said. I think all too often people fail to see the big picture when they focus on little things, and then they miss the true benefits of such an area as you described. I would personally count it a blessing as I live in an area where road rage, discourteous drivers is all common place.

Well written. It's always good to hear the other side of the story from another person's point of view.
I too like to have a say every now & then. :)

Good for you for presenting the other side, Louise. The older I get the more I realize there really are two sides to every story/situation...and reality generally falls in the middle, as you pointed out.

Love your comment in your letter, Louise. I think your letters probably get published because you are such a great writer and also very level headed and logical in your thoughts. I'd publish anything you write, I'm guessing.

I actually used to write & edit our school newspaper and yes we got LOTS of letters to the editor and no, we didn't publish them all. But the really mean ones we liked to hang on the wall to admire, especially when they were very poorly written! :O)

Good for you Louise!

awesome Louise! thanks for sharing :)

how interesting! It's funny - I am always commenting on how nice I think the drivers are in L.A. vs. Chicago. Sometimes I give a little less credit and say the L.A. drivers probably let people in because they know keeping one car from being able to merge is not going to save them any real time...

hehehehe I know I shouldn't laugh, but it IS funny.

NICE!!!! i managed to read it no problem. We also found NS to have wonderful drivers. They were actually CRAZY nice, so much so that they stopped their cars if they even THOUGHT I might cross the road. I'm used to Toronto, where even if you HAVE the right of way...you still have to be on guard for drivers who ignore you and could easily run over you if you aren't careful!
