James "Jimmy" Aulenbach - Time & Events Move Quickly here in Nova Scotia!
On the 2nd of this month, I walked into church and heard, for the first time, Jimmy playing the organ... I took some hasty videos to capture the music! Since then, we've found several friends in common, shared the dinner table here & with others, and enjoyed more of his music at the organ & piano. I got some better footage at a pre-Thanksgiving dinner party and asked if he'd like a DVD of his music. Not only was he appreciative, he asked if I could make copies for his 8 children & grand children, his Christmas gift to them! I was overjoyed!
I took the tripod & captured an hour in the church yesterday. Today it was an hour at the piano at our friend, Mike's http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2012-09-03 home. Back to the church tomorrow to redo some of *my* mistakes...he makes none! Oh, he's also a marvelous gardener; I picked a small vase of his dahlias to place in the foreground. (He's already brought me two large bouquets!)
Love this post. This is an excellent portrait of your very talented friend. Jimmy sounds like a delightful soul. And it sounds like you have thrilled him with your DVD. Well done, Louise!
@peggysirk Thanks for the kind words and having a look at this brilliant man! I'm sure portraits of random individuals don't typically garner interest here, but you've stumbled across an amazing person! Thanks!
Wow! I just listened to his rendition of "God Bless America". Wonderful stuff! How cool that he has now become a good friend and you will be blessed by his musical talents for many years to come!
@suelbiz47 Thanks so much, Sue! I saw you just signed onto my Youtube site...also many thanks! I've been recording Jimmy properly at the piano & in church...will have s couple of new clips soon that do him better justice! It's been lovely getting to know him.
Louise ~ the video and photos at the end are simply wonderful! Jimmy is an absolute artist on the organ...a captivating performance! St. John's is a gorgeous church with a magnificent organ. And you did a first class job on putting everything together in video format! Bravo to all!! Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful link!
@peggysirk I can't wait to share all the messages here with Jimmy at dinner here tonight. It'll be his first opportunity to see and hear what I'm putting together. Of note, he told us the organ was a half-million dollar organ donated anonymously to the church. I know no one has a lot of free time, but that church's long-and-recent history is quite a story. It's Canada's 2nd oldest church...
