Everyone sings about how "...it never rains in sunny California..."... where we can count on blue skies and "perfect weather" most of the year... But bring me a sky I can photograph, clouds filled with texture and shading, and "the obstructions" in the view that are quaint and charming...
I was side tracked earlier when I saw this view, so toward sunset, I asked Ken if we could take a walk. To my delight, the view hadn't changed...except that at the moment there was a horse-drawn carriage going up the street... Don't you know those visitors will hold the memory of this view long after their stay in Lunenburg is over... I will...
My word Louise you have captured this street so perfectly this is a super image " very well done ' and it's funny how we in England have somtimes months off endless cloudy sky's and dream of blue wall to wall sky's & you in California dream of a little cloudy sky's every now and then ' we both have something the other dreams off lol
This is brilliant Louise. I love so much about it. The shadows on the street; the way the spire pierces the sky; the fabulous clouds; the light glistening of the wires crossing the street; the horse drawn carriage; the criss crossing of the wires above the roof on the left that looks like a giant spider's web - all fabulous so a fav
Just look at those clouds! They add all sorts of character and atmosphere (he hee) to this image. That church steeple is a lovely strong point to this scene as well. Nicely seen and taken, Louise.
@stownsend At last...someone who thinks as I do! Would you believe that when the subject comes up around here, there are gasps of horror that "the personality of Lunenburg" should be disturbed! How about before electricity and phones...it would be nice for it to look like that! There's no dodging these in almost any photo!
I love @steveh observation which reminds me, once again of my favorite poem: "As a rule/Man is a fool./ When it's hot/He wants it cool./ When its cool/he wants it hot./ Always wanting/What its not. I love this scene and the carriage that magically appeared to make the picture even more special.
@seattle Thanks, Constance...a most-appreciated compliment from you! Sometimes moments just fall to me...I ran out to catch the clouds and this happened...
@allie912 Thank you Allie! You'd laugh to see how quickly I ran out to get this in the hope of having "something" to post for the day! (I'm loving the HDR possibilities...)
I love this shot Louise - what a fabulous view up that street - the clouds in the sky and the shadows all go towards making it great. The horse drawn carriage is the icing on the cake!! Stunning!! Huge Fav!!
I spotted this on PP and just had to come over to fav it. I can't say it any better than those who have already commented. I have to agree with everything Margaret Obey has to say. A super WOW shot.
How wonderful to get the horse drawn cart at the perfect time. I love love this! FAV. And I live in Seattle area, I agree about clouds! I am uninspired by plain featureless blue sky.
