New Year's Day ...Back to the Routine ... Same ol' Same ol'
OK...so I get to the evening and I only took a photo of the calendar my cousin sent me, with my "Thank You" note stuck to it...in effect, a photo of his photo... So when (yes, Ken again) called me to dinner, I had to do a retake on last night's theme...but hamburgers instead of rack of lamb... (The funny part is that we seldom eat meat and mostly fish, so two nights in a row is quite out of the ordinary for us.)
This is like those drawings they make for children's magazines...two pictures and you try to find what's different... (I wish I had another glass of that warm champagne...)
Oh btw...personally, I'm liking my garland enough that I might just leave it up... Without any pre-planning, I ended up with "woodland creatures" on it, and I liked the results... and we can use a little extra light in there...
So, the plates are different, wine instead of champagne, the candles are a bit shorter....anything else I missed? Oh, and if you leave the garland on the mantelpiece you will have an eleven month edge on next Christmas!! ;-)) Happy New Year dear friend.....here is to more meetings and lots of adventures! :-))
@panthora I figure if I leave in June I won't be personally embarrased that I have Christmas decorations up all summer and , you're right, I'll be that much ahead of the game when we return!
Indeed, Happy New Year, and *YES* to frequent gatherings and lots of playtime! ♥
Very cosy and inviting! So you and Len are turning into carnivores by the sound of things? And of course you can leave it up till June! I was just thinking of your swallow lifestyle ... we have many swallows who summer in CT, but mainly from the UK and Europe
A glass of Merlot. My idea of wine heaven, although I do like a nice Shiraz, or even a crisp Pinot Grigot. Need I say more! Love this shot. Good idea to leave them up!
Merlot, my favorite! I'm with Richard.... I wouldn't have a clue about lamb (I don't like it1), but I definitely can grill a burger....... I had a garland on our mantle with tiny lights, a street of little red "apples", etc..... land the lights on the garland failed on Christmas morning..... Too difficult to fix with everything else. So...... no lights on the mantle for Christmas..........
I'm with you on the Merlot - my favourite. And I definitely think you should leave the garland up. My husband Barry, is a theatre lighting designer so you can imagine the creative lighting that goes on at our place. He worked really hard to create lovely lighting for this year's festivities and so all that work means they will be up for quite awhile yet. And we can do Shakespeare any time we feel like it!
Such a beautiful warm and inviting capture Louise. I spy an owl hanging in that garland, it's beautifully done. I really like how the candles have burned down, as if friends have gathered and chatted the night away. Wishing you and Ken a very Happy New Year!!
I fav'd this because it just looks so warm and inviting and I'd really like to have been invited over to just star gaze at this setting...and to eat a burger of course!
Indeed, Happy New Year, and *YES* to frequent gatherings and lots of playtime! ♥
