I'm reading and hearing about too many recent deaths of "Loved Ones" of every sort. Only this morning I had created this card on which I put a letter to friends whose beloved dogs are in failing health. It was almost immediately that, in response to a new follower, her first photo was of the loss of a beloved horse. It was then I knew I wanted to say this to all of you. You have my deepest sympathy for the loss of your friends which encompasses all for whom you care deeply.
Nice tribute Louise. Owning and caring for a pet is a privilege not always appreciated as such and perhaps not fully realized until it is too late. Nice choice of illustration too, reminding us that we all started as an ovum!
nope nothing worth trading it for. someone commented after my recent picture of fred how some of them just take a piece of your heart with them and that was him.
Lovely shot and verse. I am always in awe of those who are generous enough to take in pets and knowing they will part with them in such a short time frame. Very touching.
I love this card Louise and the feeling behind it. I became allergic to cats during the time I had with my last pet, a rescue cat we had for 21years -she was 25 when we lost her. I'm welling up at the memory of her love for me. She was not a lap cat as she had been very badly treated. I say not a lap cat but she seemed to know when I had my heart attack, and when I had an accident at school and severed the radial artery as on both occasions she sat on my lap daily until I was better. I'm also allergic to dogs but have noticed that I tolerate Nudge very well and am investigating why as I'd love to have another pet.
So beautiful. I belong to a group on Facebook called "Bichons Rock." Each year one of the members puts together a video on You Tube that pays tribute to all the sweet fluffs who passed that year. Here is her latest and I thought you'd enjoy it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCpwnfS3V4g&feature=share
Oh Weezi, you are a true angel! And my thoughts are with all the people who this tribute is for. I read a book once that started with these words: "Losing a pet isn't like losing a family member, it IS losing a family member". Every time I embrace a new animal into my life (they're always unwanted or abandoned beauties who find their way to me), I remind myself that there is a guaranteed heartbreak somewhere along the way. But the thought of the love and joy they'll bring to my life always overrides any doubts I may fleetingly have. @ceilidh You have me tearing up at your story, Margaret. I'm sure you two soulmates will be reunited one day in some parallel universe
@_catherine_@ceilidh I created the post above, and yet I've found it nearly impossible to reply to this dear community who found it touched something in them. Catherine, your inclusion to Margaret was magnificent and would mean the world to any reader...Soulmates reunited in some parallel universe...what a beautiful thought and worthy of the possibility...
Every time I lose a pet, they take a piece of my heart with them, but they also leave me incredibly enriched with their memories and the love that they shared with me. I would not, could not trade that for anything. As hard as it is to let them go, the thought of not having them in my life is intolerable. I think the world would be a much better place if everyone could share their lives with at least one animal....
@Weezilou ....and, thank you for this heartfelt tribute. There are not enough words to express the heartbreak you experience when your beloved pet is suffering, and even worse when they cannot be saved.
@cimes1 I just looked at your video tonight, Carole...so sweet! My neighbor across the street had the dearest little Bichon named "Biscuit"...we LOVED that sweet-faced dog who always ran the cul-de-sac to come greet us! That's a special breed...angels for sure and little gems!
