On the last day with our kids, before they returned home, we treated them to brunch at the beach. At our favorite restaurant, the food is *the best*, the ambiance, Hawaiian, and you can't beat the view! Afterward we went for a walk beneath the pier and got some wonderful family photos as well as local color at the beach...surfers, a sail boat, beach volley ball. pelicans and shore birds.
As we drove home, Ken and I made plans to make more frequent trips out of our backyard and to return here until it get's overrun with people...
Nope, doesn't look like a place a snowflake would ever visit. That red roof at the end of the pier makes a great focal point that draws the eye right out over the water. You've definitely got to return here often. For pelican pictures!
@pamknowler@lyndemc Thanks for the visit here and a comment! Though not a close up, I have a pelican floating right in the midst of the surfers...will go through my choices to draw from when I have time to fill in the blanks! (And I'll keep you in mind when I go back out looking!)
@redy4et Hi Elizabeth! (I feel as though I already know you!) Have a wonderful Hawaiian holiday...ours awaits at the end of February. Looking forward to seeing your photos and a meet up with Osia this winter! *Aloha*!
@lyndemc That red roof is the restaurant, "Ruby's on the Pier"...a 50's-style chain restaurant that doesn't have the view-with-a-perspective like this does! Years ago there was a lovely coffee shop out there that we liked. We got a spate of bad-winter weather combined with high tides and surf, and it lifted that restaurant up-and-tright-into the ocean! When it was time for some black humor, we joked that we could pick up their signature coffee cups down in Laguna Beach... When they rebuilt Ruby's, it looks as though it's bolstered not to happen that way again!
@kwiksilver@jamibann@thresheg@salza Thanks for liking the presentation... At midnight I was happy enough with the finished photo, but I hadn't had computer-playtime and I couldn't leave well-enough alone! Perhaps you understand "the need"...
Oh my word, Weezi! I see what you mean. We both had exactly the same idea! We are definitely synchronised on some level. I love how you turned yours into a polaroid snapshot ... really cute
Oh, sure - rub it in! We're in the midst of a deep freeze - the kind where the dog's pads stick to the ice while he's peeing. Forget pooping - it's hard to poop while standing on one foot :-)
"Having a nice time. Wish you were here"
(And they'd all throw snowballs at me!
Thanks, Ron... Have another from that day, a little classier...I keep running behinder and behinder!
Love the framing.........enjoy your warm weather while I gear up for downhill skiing and snow shoeing Louise! :)
