This is about as naked as you're likely to ever see me! Went for my followup today with the doctor, and *sigh*, I couldn't begin to spell the words he rattled off, but I won't be heading up the conga line for awhile... that much I gathered. Two torn things and crud behind the knee cap...that's "layman's language". Surgery... asap as we have travel plans the end of February. My Sports Medicine doctor (try and recall all my selfies out on the slopes or on a surf board...no? Well, *try* to imagine...) (he) can't see me until the end of this month, so we may do some further research.
This, I'm afraid will curtail my low-vantage point photos for awhile...
Oh no.,.... Hwy, that's too bad. Kinda; looks like the xrays I had before either of my knee replacements. Hope you can get your surgery before any scheduled travel plans. Bummer, if not And those xrays and replacements squashed any chance of my getting low vantage shots..... ever again. I get down, I don't get up. In PT (physical therapy -- John calls it Personal Torture) right now to regain some strength in my legs......
@lookitsz@ethelperry@tjchapa@gavincci Thanks ya'll...yes, it will all go just fine... I knew at the time that all those well-wishes for "good health in the New Year" were on shaky ground...haha... I'm not one to complain, however... Thanks for the thoughts!
Sorry to hear Louise !! Be strong and every thing will go well, it will certainly be a downer for a while, make sure you take the time to rest and heal and you'll be good to go in less time. Sending good vibes your way !!
@aglennc Oh...Personal Torture is worse than surgery! This knee-thing has been with me for awhile, so the last time I had PT, I thought, wow..kind of like aerobics without having to pay the rec center... Well, that cheery assesment was short lived... (and I can think of so many other things I'd rather be doing!) Hang in there...like you have a choice!
@cajjnj@kerristephens@jocee Thanks all...I just said to Ken...it's like getting get-well cards from all my friends! I'll hold the "good vibe" thought for when I'll really need it, and please come back to see me when I'm "down and out"!
@cajjnj haha...had to add that we picked up the CD to take to the surgeon...but of course I took a look...and downloaded it all! There may be an art project to be had someday...
@suelbiz47 ...don't forget Anita @aglennc I know I'm in good company, and I do feel as though I just have to pay my dues to join the club! (When I told Ken I was amazed how many comments people have left since I just sat down and posted this, he said, "Yah...it's your Pity Picture..."
I do rather miss the large plastic sheets and brown envelopes for collage materials... ...this however suits the day and age as well as our current project! ♥
@Weezilou Actually, she's done wonders with the initial reason I went in for PT.... pain in one upper leg. Thought I was in for another -- second on that hip --replacement (first done in '89) However, ortho. doctor said, "It's like new!" and sent me to PT. She cured it!! Now working on the leg strength.
@dmrams in short, yes...and I think compensating for it is what has put all else out of whack. The good news...it can be fixed and it's not arthritis in all my joints which really was my initial concern! Thinking of your grateful list, I'm grateful for an excellent doctor who suspected this off the bat...For his decision to rule out other possibilities...and for a husband I know I can count on in the present and through whatever is to come! Thanks for the prayers...I don't want to make it sound worse at this point... xo
Quite a revealing shot Louise! Ha! Glad it is fixable and sorry you have to go through it. This will give you a break from the low shots and you can now use that telephoto lens more! Wishing you a smooth fix and speedy recovery.
Damn is right. It's just so unfortunate and inconvenient when our bodies start to give in and buckle after years of living large and having fun. Thank goodness for state of the art surgical techniques that can put us back in working order. Wishing you all the best with whatever course you take, Louise!
Oh boy, even minor damage to some of the important parts around the knee can be painful, but depending on what it is it will go well. Did he mention a meniscus tear, a torn ACL, ? If it's a meniscus, that will be a speedy recovery. I was back to work in two days after my last one. Good luck with it all. Hope you find a speedy cure
Oh Louise, this is no good. Even with a starburst in the picture to brighten things up, it's a bummer-of-a-photo. I'm sorry you've got this situation to deal with when I know you'd much rather be out and about with your camera, crawling around looking for that next great shot.
I'll add my best wishes that all works out well as quickly as possible and not mention that I've not been able to do low-vantage point shots since I was 19 bc of knee probs. I'll keep that part of my personal to myself!
Sorry to giggle, but I just love how you've added sparkle and bokeh to your MRI result ... trust you to bring humour into absolutely everything! That's why I know you're going to be just fine ... the perfect (and rather dashing) husband, a huge support system and truckloads of HUMOUR :))
Can`t read it all correctly but it sounds no good . Hope they can surgery and heal l you knee so you can walk like a hind(doe) after it. Be brave, take care.
So very sorry to hear that you have problems with y0ur knee , do hope you manage to avoid replacement , after having both my knees done I can get around Ok they are never as good as your own
Oh I feel for you Louise. My left knee is terrible and I miss my walking. I'd almost got it back to normal with physio when we went to Trebah gardens in Cornwall.. There was a steep incline down to ther beach and I'd left my stick in the car I was feeling so much better. Big mistake! Get well soon. Prayers and hugs winging your way
Egad...that is YOUR knee??? Oh gosh, this sounds like not a fun journey ahead. But, in the end, you should be better than before, right? It's tough -- but Jim is a new person with his new knees! I wish you all the best!
@taffy Thanks, Taffy...don't need a replacement... As I understand it, some stitching and scraping... The meds have stilled the pain, so I may see if I can put it all off until after Hawaii in early March... No one gets out of life Scott Free...you're bearing up under your travails as well...and it all gives us something to write about ;-) Thanks!
I feel your pain. I started out with them putting gel into my knee in June but that did work for a while and then they had to go in YESTERDAY and clean up the meniscus and some other stuff. I'm feeling pretty good today. It was all done with three little holes. Hope they can help you.
