Last Saturday morning Ken & I enjoyed a hula show http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2015-03-07, and I had *a lot* of photos I wanted to share with the lovely performers. I was directed to the Senior Center where I met Arleen (rt with yellow flower in her hair). She asked me to send the photos to her and she'd see that everyone would get them. Well, she sent me the dearest note, saying how much she loved the pictures and would I please come to their class this morning. (I was delighted, of course!) Their Hawaiian hula teacher (on my left) welcomed me so warmly, and so many of the dancers came to meet me during breaks. We closed with this group photo, and I've got a new lot of photos to send everyone. Anita, in red on the left, is the one who fractured her wrist in the fall, and she asked me to stay in touch and come back to see her next visit. THIS is what I love about travel...meeting people who are living the life I'm visiting. It was pretty wonderful!
What a wonderful group photo. Yes I agree with you about travel. My husband speaks Italian and we have made so many friends here in Sorrento where we are staying just because we talked to them and showed an interest in their families. Hula dancing sounds a good way to keep fit!
So wonderful to be embraced by locals and participate in the hula class! How fun! Hawaii is a magical place in so many ways. I'm glad you two had such a terrific vacation and I enjoyed it vicariously through your photos!
Great lovely pic. of you and all of the members of Wednesday Morning Hula Class in Lahaina .
There is one big thing sad about traveling. You`ve to leave.
@summerfield She who holds the camera is spared the embarrassment :)
I did do a video of one song the instructor sang while accompanying herself on the uke... I haven't even listened to it yet, but I'll let you know if I put it on youtube for a limited audience...
