I've chased this damned pheasant for three years and finally got my picture of him! (One year, as Ken looked on, I got out of the car and was behind him as we went round and round a rhododendron bush! Ken could see us both and that he managed to keep me on the opposite side from him! Of course Ken found this hysterically funny...hahaha!) On this date we were just arriving at the beach and it was Ken who saw him. I stayed in the car and took photos until this guy was out of sight! I managed to even get a couple of good ones. I'm no Bill Dodsworth, but I was pretty happy to have seen this beautiful bird AND get a souvenir photo...
Love it..... Been thinking of you. We are back in the States now after our month + in Alberta. Spent a wonderful day with Brian and Melody @bkbinthecity in Edmonton. He is an Edmonton historian, and he and Melody gave us a wonderful tour. Great fun with them,
@aglennc How wonderful to see you again "back in town"! I look forward to catching up with you! We'll come home (for dr appts and to see the kids) for 10 days in early Sept...then to Chicago and back to Canada! We're having another wonderful summer here! We'll chat...we have a lot to share, I know!
@joysfocus Better than "back in the day" when I first visited Ken's family and they had one mounted on top of the t.v. set... OMG... He and I had to have a LONG talk about THAT one!
He is beautiful. When I was a kid we collected and traded playing cards as a hobby. One of my favorites was a pheasant just like this one. That was a long time ago but I remember so well the fun of adding to my collection.
@allie912 Once again, Allie, "Were we separated at birth"? I LOVED collecting those cards...many had nothing on the back...they were just "trading cards"! I can't recall a favorite, but I've thought of them through the years and wonder when it was my mother must have deemed them unimportant and threw them out!
@Weezilou I remember buying packs at the 5&10 cent store on Sat. morning and eagerly tearing through the cellophane to see if I had any duplicates. However, I can't really recall if it was good or bad to have dupes!
@allie912 THOSE were the ones you could trade! And I'd forgotten where I'd gotten them, but, yep, we had a Ben Franklin "Five and Dime"...LONG before Ben Franklin was a craft store and you couldn't even get a pack of gum for that nickle! How fun it is to stroll with a friend down Memory Lane!

Thank you all! I posted this as I'd "at last!" "bagged" one, but spending time looking at it and reading comments, I may put this one in a frame. He certainly gave me a lot of funny memory moments as he reeled me in!
