This morning I wrote to friends in NYC (who also have a home nearby in NS) and I asked, "Will you be going to a Broadway play tonight? We're going to a Kitchen Party!" I haven't heard yet what they did, but we had a rockin'-good toe-tapping evening of rock'n'roll, gospel, jazz, (really) Oldies, and lots of sing along! These Nova Scotians know their music!
The musical evenings have been arranged by John McGee http://365project.org/Weezilou/so-many-choices/2015-07-06 about whom I failed to mention his ability as a delightful singer/musician! I recorded most of the evening & hope to put together a brief promotional clip to entice people in to enjoy this newest town venue! It's a guaranteed good time!
This looks like a foot tapping good time!!! When you can get a little bit of everything, I can't see how you can go wrong? Nice shot of this small band and so glad you had a great time!! FAV!
@365projectlinda Your reply was perfect! I think I need to be following you! Should you think I'm not as attentive to comments as I "should be", I think you have a pretty good idea where I'll be (out and about in Lunenburg!)
@joysfocus ah yes...you found it! I do think you would definitely LOVE it! This fellow was an awesome singer...and that's his dad on drums and his sister was rocking the piano! Bud, on bass, is a regular each evening.
@kelly2@ceilidh Perhaps it's time to plan that trip! There was everything from this man's "Joe's Boogie Woogie" to the crooning of "When you Wish Upon a Star" and a retired pediatrician playing jazz on a piano and relating stories of Duke Ellington and Fats Waller! Yep...not a note I didn't love!
There was a time I love to visit and listen to (Jazz) bands like this. That was before they use amplifieders. Now I find it most time to noisy and loud. Need to give it and other try. Great shot of the man.
This could be a pic of my own family as my dad plays double bass and my brothers play guitar, drums and saxophone! Many jam sessions happen when they get together ...
@_catherine_ Loving an evening like this as I do, I can think of no nicer way to spend time with Family! "Fiddling" is popular up here, in addition to all this...do you add that to the sessions, or are you 'All about Classical"? And your Mom? Do you share these delightful times with friends and others?
@Weezilou I tinkle on a few instruments, but only for my own entertainment and enjoyment ... am way too shy to be a performer. My mom plays the cello, but only jams in chamber groups playing classical
