Prairie Style by Weezilou

Prairie Style

This morning Ken and I had the distinct pleasure of a 365 meet-up with JT and Taffy in Oak Park, Illinois (just outside Chicago). I was delighted JT chose this location when I remembered how much I loved visiting that village, home of Frank Lloyd Wright, the famous architect who created designs that became known as "Prairie-Style".

Ken set off with a camera of his own, and we gals took our pictures together, walking through the neighborhoods, and sitting in a park to visit. It was a gorgeous day!

If all that wasn't wonderful enough, we walked down to the Oak Park Art League Gallery where JT had three gorgeous photographs in a show, filled withl artistically impressive works! We came away with a day filled with art and architecture and new friendships to top it all off!

We hated to have to leave California after having such a well-filled and pleasurable time. Now I'm going to hate to have to leave Chicago! But the fun isn't over... Saturday we're going to meet up with 365 photographers, Sue Stephenson and Deb. And when we get to Halifax, we're meeting Vikki Summerfield and Bill Fenske! I think we need some special "Tour..." t-shirts! (Ross, did you see all this coming when you gave us a place for our photos?! Wow!)

***To all who expressed concern, my friend, Avis, is now home from the hospital and resting. And our friend Mike (a 365 member who never posts photos...) was given the good news that after weeks of radiation, the tumor that was removed was cancer-free. We're so grateful for your prayers and well-wishes; thank you!
I really enjoy this photo. At first look it has the appearance of fireworks coming out of this pot! Lovely composition. I have really enjoyed meeting the 365 posters and so glad you have been making those connections. How wonderful to see the faces of the work you love to follow. Have fun!

I know exactly where that is. Michael and I toured the Frank Lloyd Wright home and studio a few years ago. Then of course toured the oak park neighbourhood with the recorded walking tour. It was on our bucket list to see.
What a great place for a 365 meet-up. The ones that are coming up sound awesome too. T-shirts are the way to go. What fun that would be. Glad your friends are on the mend and recovering. Enjoy the rest of your time in Chicago.

@dailypix Thanks Susan! What fun to know you've walked the same neighbourhood that we did today! Yes, we had the recorders as well. I'm about to upload one more collage of photos of our colleagues...then to bed. Too tired to write everyone until we're settled back home (and alone!) We're "on tour" you know ;) You're slated for the end of the year!

@Weezilou thanks Louise. We were so excited to see this picture and to know we walked the same neighbourhood as you. That's just really neat, yet another commonality. Your tour sounds pretty epic, enjoy it to the fullest! We are so looking forward to seeing you and Ken in December. We've been crazy busy too. :)

Lovely capture! The light on the top plant exploding out of the pot is great! Sounds lime the perfect place for a 365 meet up! Love the sound of your tour! You do get around Louise and manage to fill your days with such exciting things!

@pamknowler Thanks again! As I see it, Pam, I'm only passing this way once, and after having had my wings clipped last spring, I have some serious catching up to do! ♥

Oh, my, Art, Architecture, AND 365ers!! What a glorious day you guys had! Love the tones in this picture, and the backlit grasses in the pot! I think the T-shirts should be black, and should say something like "365 and going strong" in white letters. Keep them guessing....except for the ones that recognize it, and then they give you a wink! ;-)))

how come i don't get to see this when i am in chicago? seems like summer doesn't want to go with all these photographic possibilities in the offing. i'm envious of your meet up with JT and miss taffy with the bonus of seeing jt's work on show. that is of course notwithstanding the fact that i myself get to meet you in a matter of few days. @taffy @panthora @voiceprintz

I'm psyched you and bill @bill_fe will get to meet Louise and Ken. How cool to hang with them on your side of the border. Talk about envious!
