After arriving home just after dark yesterday, we had a morning to unpack and await the arrival of the family here for a week. The little ones spent the afternoon in the spa, and after baths and dinner, Ashley & John left for dinner and a movie while we babysat. I stretched out while Ken read to the boys, and dozed off immediately! I couldn't allow myself to stay asleep at 6 PM, so Ken built a fire and I played with my camera until the kids came home. It was a beautiful evening, and I'd forgotten what it was like to really sit and relax!
So glad you had an evening like this....I think it has been a very long time, probably six months in Nova Scotia, and a few in California, but who's counting?! This looks so peaceful!
@panthora entirely peaceful, Osia. You'd just die to see me as I sit here writing to you. Everyone's turned in for the night now, and "Charlie" is curled up on my lap where he's been for 45 minutes at least now! He hisses at Pink when she walks though, but it hasn't come to blows! Back at her home, the neighbor's cat is black and very aggressive; she's been attacked & actually had to go to the vet! I said tonight to Ken that he's racial profiling and Pink's under the gun! They've got a week to sort it out! Off to have a look at your photos and then c all it a night. (Funny how we "365 neighbors" are all night owls at the same hour!)
So cozy - I want to be there! You're always on the go - not sure how you have the energy. If I don't get back online before the end of the week, wishing you, Ken and family only the best in 2016.
Happy New Year (or in Finnish Hyvää uutta vuotta!). :)
Beautiful shot! I can really relate to that moment of relaxation after all the holiday commotion. I was in my pajamas at 6:30pm the day after Christmas.
@bluespirit funny, Kass... When there's something "to do", I'm in high gear. Take away the activities, and I melt onto the couch, coffee in hand, and if the room has a fireplace and Christmas tree, I'd happily stay there through the winter! Happy New Year to you two Nesters as well! I look forward to watching the saga continue!
You always have so much fun stuff planned (and unplanned!) I imagine a quiet evening is a real treat for you, especially when you are being grandparents in the bargain.
@allie912 thank you, yes, you're so right! While Ken and I prepared dinner, I peeked into the living room to watch Ash & John playing a board game with the boys. It warms my heart to see this! A fire was built in the dining room and we'll be four at the table tonight...perhaps another photo-worthy moment... I love to keep busy, but I'm really enjoying this down time! (Present goal is to learn Lightroom!)
it calls to mind the lines "'Twas the night before Christmas; not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse..." so oeaceful you can almost hear the quiet sounds.
