Charlie joined us by the fireplace this morning as Pink did at the start of my 365 project in 2010 http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2010-01-01 Back then I had no idea where this was going to lead, and I only signed on because daughter, Heather, thought "it would give me something to do"!
What it did was hone my skills, give me a new sense of direction, put me in touch with amazing photographers world-wide, and teach me new ways of viewing the world around me. It taught me the habit of never leaving the house without a camera, and I've often been so glad I had it along! It completely replaced the hours I once spent watching television, and more times than not, robbed me of sleep. When photography, downloading, post processing, posting and commenting transported me to another level, I often forgot to eat. (I don't recommend this as a diet, and the losses were not long lasting). I made new friends (virtually) and I made new friends in person. I welcomed visitors I'd never anticipated meeting, and traveled to meet others, sharing our love of photography that was the catalyst for friendship. In this time period, we've shared a myriad of emotions because of the connections we've made.
And in the span of that paragraph, I started speaking of "me" and smoothly segued to "we". Thank you, Heather, for setting me on this course, and thank you friends-over-the-years who've traveled this path beside me.
That expression says did I give you permission? Like you when I first started posting in 2011 I wasn't sure that I would even complete one year! I have thought at times that I will pull back a bit but then I miss the interactions with people who I have befriended here, many of whom I may never meet in person!
@salza It's an interesting place here, isn't it?! I never considered "pulling back", but I've been too busy to post, often while traveling, or (self imposed), I find my photographic life back in California less stimulating than life in Lunenburg. Soon, each time, I realize I've been missing out on more than posting photos, and I'm back in the fray! So happy to be in such good company!
Congrats on continuing on your photographic journey with us here. I'm so glad to have connected with you and Ken and look forward to seeing you after your winter break. :)
What a sweetie, and love the expression you captured!
I'm coming into the end of my second year on Jan. 5th, and can't believe how fast it went, how much I have learnt and the virtual friends I've made, your right this site is amazing. Happy New Year Louise!
Gorgeous capture of Charley in front of that lovely fire. You put into words so many of the reasons I am still here on 365 starting my 4th year. You say it so much better than I can Louise!! So many virtual friends and this year I will be meeting some of you for the first time - I am so excited!! 365 is a wonderful place to be and it has helped to make this happen!! Fav!
It has been my pleasure to be part of your world, in some small way. Although we have never met in person, Flat Allie accompanied you on a very exciting trip and your photographs and musings have made me feel like part of your extended family. A very happy new year, dear friend, and may we spend many more connected across the miles.
Charlie looks happy to be warming up by the fireplace! You've described the impact of 365 so well-- it's definitely changed the way I spend my time and offered new views of the world. It's also given me so many new connections to people on the site, some of whom I've been fortunate to meet in person like you and Ken! Wishing you both an extraordinary new year!
I share so much with what you say about 365! Joining this community has been about the best thing I could possibly do for myself. And I so enjoy finding out more about what others around the world are doing and experiencing.
Love the warmth of this capture. Lovely thoughts with the photo Louise. I agree...... This has been a life changing project......... in so many ways. Meeting new friends, the way we see the world around us, becoming aware of things we never really saw before..... Thanks Ross for your vision of bringing people with this common interest together.
So many I like to answer , so less words I know fits.
