No messing around with this one... While sitting outside keeping the family company as they swam, I trained my camera on the two feeders and the pair of hummingbirds that frequent them. From my vantage point, I didn't like the distraction of the windows, so I raided the art room for a large sheet of Fabriano that would never become "a book", while laying there waiting for me! I love that, knowing this color so perfectly, the colors are absolutely correct and I only adjusted the levels and cropping square for the best composition. The flight patterns are so remarkable in slow motion, I may make some GIF images and, if so, will share one later.
Great shot of the lovely humming bird.
I just decided that I`m finish making hummingbird brooches. I`ve finish the colored ones already and have to do two from silver (a kind off). I want to chance subject.
@pyrrhula Clearly, you've certainly explored that subject! Your creations are little works of art. Though you've finished making them (and will move on to something else, I think I'll always associate the hummingbirds with you! @dsp2 I think you know your hummingbirds well! I step into the back yard hoping to wait to catch another at the feeder, and in a moment I hear the "swoop-swoop" sound and "chip chip!" She's not leading em away from a nest, but sitting in one tree while I photograph her...then another branch where I continue to take her picture! They're so inquisitive, and (hoping I don't flatter myself) but they seem to like it when we come out! @snowy@pamknowler@cruiser@judithdeacon@kelly2@redy4et I may try to shoot "S" and not "A" to see what happens, but I really like to see all else in focus but the wings. They're so amazingly fast! @chard OK...I laughed out loud when I read that this morning! You always entertain, Richard! @frankhymus@danette@joansmor Thank you all for liking this image. Danette, you may have read what I wrote to DS Pinkston; Ours always come over to fly near us when we step outside. She's not trying to lure us from a nest; I know her actions when she does that (and I always find the nest!) I have two that remain in the backyard and have for many years!
