Pam Knowler asked if we still had a lot of wildlife in our back yard. The raccoons seem to be having a time out; haven't seen them. The mallards arrive promptly at 7, have breakfast and leave for the day. Our housesitter photographed a coyote standing out by the pool one night and I'd like *never* to see one of those again in my Peaceable Kingdom! So here's what I have to offer today Pam: One of three playful squirrels out back! He's just taken notice of another on the ground and held this pose nicely for several shots before leaping off the table and having a game of tag.
For those starting that new diet at the top of your New Year's Resolution list, a game of tag around the table between courses might be all the exercise needed when accompanied by side-splitting laughter over how funny we'd look!
He is just gorgeous!! I am never very lucky when trying to get a shot of a squirrel as they are so fast. This guy knows when he is on to a good thing!! Thanks for sharing such a lovely capture of your visitor!! Fav!
@allie912 They're such fun to have out back! In 40+ years here, they never left the city park, but we've begun to have them regularly in recent years. Even as I sat down here, one was up on a chair and looking in the window at me! They *know* from whence come the special treats! (And while they're eating up on the table, we have NO shortage of doves and finches eating birdseed nearby! They cohabitate well with segregated dining!)
@jamibann I love the way we all "speak to one another" as though we're on a party line! It's so much better than "like"-and-outta-here! Thanks, Issi!!! I trust your daughter is well on the mend?
@annied Dr Ken is tired of hauling me up off the ground and has taken to watching me like a hawk! I doubt that he'll be letting me go on walkabout alone anymore!
Awww, such a precious little critter. Looks like you're treating him very well with that delicious meal. I just love that rich, reddish fur. We have mostly eastern gray squirrels around here and only rarely see a fox squirrel. They're all so fun to watch. So sweet, Louise.
@digitalrn OK...thanks for your medical expertise! I have taken running and tight-rope walking off my activities list! I'll welcome all the medical professionals who wish to join me when we take off for Maui! (A girl can dream, can't she?!)
@aglennc Only had to stand in the kitchen and shoot through the window! I think they see us watching them, so that when they run out of food, they come to the window and look back in at us! @gilbertwood and thanks to you too Denise!
I am going to try that tag around the table...beats dieting any day! Not that I have ever thougjt to make that a New Year resolution 😅
