And now for something different ...

I try my best not to overdo my backyard menagerie in photographs, but it is my primary source at present. Just for fun, I thought you might get a kick out of this as I did when I saw it! Nevermind that I leave bowls of fresh water around!

Our vet once asked where the cats drink, and we said they gravitate to the pool water. He replied that in the event of an earthquake and we didn't have running water, to drink the pool water! He said most of the animals he sees thrive on it, so here again, case in point! (But I hope we don't have to resort to this!)
what a cutie - and great detail and reflection - I love your menagerie

I love watching the wildlife in my garden too. This is lovely. I went outside in the dark this morning, the security light came on, and there sat on the bird feeder was a rat busily tucking in!

Can't get enough of those squirrels! I'm guessing the chemical balance on the pool is good. This is why the pool needs refilling so often.

@annied Thanks, Annie...If it's animals you want, I have 'em!

@shepherdmanswife Oh Chantal, what a shock! We have them, too, as we know they get into the fruit trees, but I'd prefer not to see one! HOWEVER...I suppose you know I'd be compelled to photograph it!

@stray_shooter This little female is the one I see most often currently. I love the interactions with both the cats and birds! As for the pool, after this weekends rains, I suppose she won't have to risk life and limb reaching the water!

@jamibann While not "a woodland forest pool", at least I was on the premises for the photo shoot! Thanks!

@Weezilou I stood still looking at it and he just froze and stared back at me. So I backed off to go and get my camera, but as soon as I moved away he scuttled off. Tomorrow I will go out with camera ready!
