No matter their intended purpose, I've voiced my opinion about the modern, pointy, wind turbines that, to my eye, are a blight on a landscape. For me, the rural, rustic windmill that reminds you which way the wind is blowing... and perhaps pumps water, too.
@laurieewilson@summerfield Thank you both so much! This would totally be etsooi as it's been through several layering techniques! Learned some new things I think I can replicate!
I guest we`ve to got use to it. Skycrapers are n`t my fav. to but somehow they facinate me. Love the noice the old ones made (In movies)
Great processing job.
@mbrutus@snowy Isn't a diversity of opinion what makes us more interesting to one another?! Thank you both for sharing your thoughts, and when they're not aligned with my own, I do try to look at things differently. Thank you both for liking this one!
@pyrrhula I suppose that knowing your background, you might describe yourself as a Country Boy? Like you, there's much in this world I wouldn't want in my surrounds, but I love to investigate, photograph, ...and go home to my own bed at night (which I only wish was closer to the beach and crashing surf! But that said, I once heard someone say the ocean surf was too noisy!! To each his own!
@gardenfolk Thanks, Cathee! Often what satisfies me on one day is the item I'm trying to improve at a later time! But here, this harkens back to a technique I tried about a month ago, and I added some new layering, and I, personally, am happy with how it turned out. Thanks, and YES...total creative outlet!
@Weezilou When traveling in flat West Texas those huge new wind turbines rise up like aliens. I don't know if I will ever get used to them! I love your processing of this old workhorse, it's a lovely piece of art! Now the water is pumped out of the ground with electrical pumps, I am trying to remember if I saw even one working windmill on my two recent trips to west Texas, I don't think I did!
@louannwarren I'll be quite curious 50 years from now if they'll be the best to generate electricity or another bad idea! Look at all those twisty light bulbs we paid more for, were told they'd last so long (they didn't) and now they're being replaced with something better and prettier! I'm shocked how boldly invasive the turbines are in the landscape of America the Beautiful when seen from 30,000 feet! (And they kill birds that fly in to them...)
Thank you for liking this one! I actually saw about 6-7 but didn't try to photograph them all!
@louannwarren My friend whom I visited the other day asked if she could buy a set of cards from me. I told her to send me photos she wanted me to use, and she said, "No...I want YOUR photos!" I think I've got some she might enjoy!
@Weezilou I`m born, and have grow up, in one of the biggest cities of our country. The Hague, At the age of 16 I leave home and only came back for a visit. From the begin I`ve been allergic to loud noises. Have some remarceble stories of it in time.
You're old fashioned. Well, you said "call me old fashioned!!" :) To me this is a foreign windmill, I am used to the traditional European sails in Holland and England, but I still enjoy the style of these. They remind me of the ones you give to children for the beach.
Fabulous photo and processing. No surprise you are getting requests for your photos. BTW. I was in the Blue Mountains today and remembered you when I heard the Bell Birds.
@yurugabell at what's 8AM here in California, you've already put a song in my heart as I set out for the day! Thank you for that, knowing someone in Australia thought of me when they heard the little bird song! You were so sweet to share that...Thank you! ♥
Great reminder of kinder, gentler days. Thanks, it's good to be back but I'm having trouble posting my photos. You can see them but I cannot see the most recent. May need to contact the administrator.
this is very beautiful and really enjoy your processing. here in VT we had huge arguments about wind towers, many loud voices came from people who had vacation homes who said the towers would ruin their views of the mountains. they do NOT live here. we have to find clean energy. if progress does not happen, we would all be driving around in horse and buggies. know there is still a great deal of improvements to be made regarding noise, wildlife, etc, but as a planet, we have to think green.
Just like everyone else, love your exceptional processing, Louise. I spent quite a bit time here reading all of these interesting, flattering comments.
@lynnz Thanks again, Lynn! It's such fun when a photo strikes a chord, sometimes in different ways, and a conversation ensues! And for me, this is why I love the people and conversations here far and above any time on FB! The connections feel real...
