I've chalked this day up as one of the best of the year! We woke to lots of snow and it continued to full until well past noon! Baking was put off until tomorrow so we could (carefully) go for a drive for photos and I exhausted a fresh battery! At 4 we went with friends to St John's for a beautiful...exquisite!...concert called The King's Christmas. Every year people had said we should stay for it, and now I fully understand what they were talking about! Sensational! Sublime! My friend said, afterward, that her skin was tingling... I realized I felt the same. We chatted with friends as we exited into the snowy night and went to a wonderful restaurant for dinner (lamb and roasted cauliflower...what a taste treat!) After a coffee and Bailey's we headed back to our house to open gifts to one another and sat by candle light listening to Christmas music.
Maybe it was the coffee, but I'm on such a high over this wonderful day, I have no desire to *try* to sleep! We talked about the necessity of gratitude in life, and on such a day, I felt it every moment. Today was the day I'd hoped for (yet never dreamed could happen like this!) I'm feeling blessed and loved... Wow...
So pleased for you Louise that you finally got your snow before you leave for CA! It sounds like the perfect day too with such lovely activities crammed in! Beautiful scenery, wonderful music, good food and great friends - definitely sounds perfect to me! Take care in that snow! Fav for this lovely capture!
What a delightful narrative, Louise, and what a beautiful image. I love how you can see the movement of snow emanating from the action of bird's feet landing on the feeder.
What a wonderful day you had! The perfect Christmas day. Love the capture of bird and snow. I imagine it might snow here maybe next month. This is supposed to be the rainy season but no rain to be found this month. No rain equals no snow. Oh well, it's one more thing that's out of my control. Haha!
Glad you had such a magical day. Thanks for sharing your story and your photo, which I love. A fav. It would be beautiful without the wings fluttering, but they are just he piece de resistance.
@louannwarren ...if I didn't have SO MUCH to keep me busy for the next 6.5 days, I'd be a puddle of tears! I'm trying to infuse every pore with "the present"...the remaining days are certainly A Gift! Thanks, m'friend!
Love reading about your activities. I am left with the feeling that gratitude is in the eye of the beholder. Someone with a smaller heart would not have appreciated the events of your day so fully. And sharing those feelings enabled us all the feel the wonder along with you. Thank you for being such a great guide to your wonderful world.
your day sounds magical and i wouldn't want to sleep either if it was me. this is a lovely shot with the dove's flapping wings and the snow flying down in the process, and that welcome sign says it all about you. lovely and welcoming. i do miss you, my friend. i may not say it often but i do.
