This is the same neighborhood as yesterday's photo-painting. Always looking for ways to break the rules, I trimmed a sepia photo of this woman taken around the 1940s, colorized, enlarged, placed and and then played the action. I'm happiest when I'm able to lend my own touch to an automated technique.
@pamknowler You're always so nice to me, Pam! Ken actually came and watched as this one went through the paces...takes about 20 min before I add my adjustments! Ken was amazed at the amount of computing power it took! Engineers!
@joansmor Hang in there, Joan! Anyone who *doesn't* edit, isn't taking advantage of the number of choices available to us "in this modern era"!! "SOOC" is a choice, but so is everything else! Just like my 97 yo friend who is a painter who asks me to send her pictures for inspiration, I use my pictures for further inspiration as well! It's seldom that I'm incapable of taking a well-shot photo; I just enjoy the many artistic possibilities available to me in this day and age. Here I took an old monotone photo, and by incorporating it with my photograph, I could create a blend that pulled it together, looking like one original scene. The choices are so endless, you'll never want for ideas, Joan. Tell "those people" you're using your artistic license. And you can think to yourself one of my favorite sayings, "If they're not God, their opinion doesn't matter, and you don't have to care." Now go out there and enjoy yourself any way you please! ♥
@louannwarren@seattlite@jamibann@pamknowler Thank you all for the comments. I struggled to rise up in art school in the 60s...one snarky teacher who never liked my vision suggested I'd "never be more than a Sunday painter"... Not an encouraging teacher, but I'm not unhappy artistically...see my comment to Joan, above. (This was a bit of a tangent and a small rant...my morning therapy session!) Thanks for your loving, sustained support!
@will_wooderson Ken said the same thing... The shadow cast from her cheeks and nose are causing that, so I decided not to get rid of that definition. Thanks for stopping by with a comment.
@domenicododaro Thank you for the kind words, dear friend. I spend a lot of time distracting myself from the craziness in this country, that, to me, is going to do more damage than any virus. When did civilization become to uncivilized?! Francesca asked me to explain what is going on, and I feel incapable of explaining it as there are so many tangled webs! But all that aside, I think back to beautiful hours spent strolling and taking pictures with intelligent and kind individuals. If someday, that's all that is left, I'll be grateful for that. Thanks you, Domenico. (no packet has arrived in the mail, if you're wondering... Wanted to let you know!)
Stay safe and healthy!
I'm sure you are missing your time in Canada!
