This had to be one of the most pleasant days we've had since going into lockdown! This is Laguna Beach, one of the oldest beach towns in Southern California. Our first stop was at a marine-animal rescue center for a private family tour. It was a revelation just how loud seals and sea lions could be as we stood amongst them! It sounded like Howler Monkeys in the jungle!
Next stop was the beach on a perfect, sunny day! We arrived as the tide was fully out, making walking on the packed sand a pleasure! Down to the tide pools we went, in search of small fish, sea anemone, a sea cucumber and hermit crabs; we found them all! We saw lots of pelicans, and along with family, I came home with no shortage of photos!
By mid-afternoon, all were hungry, and we selected a restaurant with roof-top dining, Ken's an my first restaurant meal since January 2020! As a part of an entirely *delicious day*, it didn't disappoint!
Upon arriving home, we had a second mother duck with her brood of 10 in the pool! The other hen, down to 3 growing ducklings, was out in front of the house; coexisting wasn't going to be tolerated! They've been left to work it out; I've got my own kid-lings to see to!
It looks so beautiful Louise! How I long for the beach! What a delightful day you have had! I loved reading your narrative- just read it out to Barb as I knew she would appreciate your lovely day too! A meal out - wow I cannot remember when I last had a meal out! So pleased you are enjoying your gorgeous visitors!
This is so fantastic. Your story is as fantastic as your photo! This is truly a classic California image, I’m so glad you are having this delightful family time.
@summerfield We typically care little for dining out as Ken's an excellent cook, and we enjoy our own ambiance! However, on that afternoon, we happened on a marvelous restaurant with "quite good" food, and a rooftop view worth the price alone, so we all relished in it!
@louannwarren Thanks Lou Ann! We shouldn't have to feel such disbelief that we're all together again, but we're counting our blessings! No day could have been better!
Congrats on your first meal out - I've been craving having someone cook me food and serve me it for months. And now I've gone mad and keep eating out now that we can (outdoors of course).
I am glad you had a wonderful day after a very long year! Too bad the mama ducks cannot coexist. It sounds like Katniss and Peanut Butter. Katniss just wants him to stay on his side of the fence but I think he gets lonely. He is treated like a cat but not like family. :(

Still to cold for me but in the garden sunshine out of the wind it is nice.
