I never have to wait long for the hummingbirds to come in close, but I also typically don't sit and wait for them with my camera set and ready. I'll go out to feed the crows or squirrels, and photograph flowers, and as I return to the door, they swoop in after me! I turned and got a quick shot of this one (a female Anna's hummingbird); it'll do for the day!
It was Ken's birthday and we spent time together (after my 2 more hours in the dentist chair!). I'm forever thankful to have a superb endodontist who can work 99.98% painlessly!
NIce capture. I get quite a few birds here but never see hummingbirds. My friend who lives about 20 miles away has them all over her backyard but she has a honeysuckle vine that they love.
