Ken and I were having dinner on the patio as the sun was going down. My little hummer sat on this branch in the Flowering-Pear tree (not fruit producing) for 12 minutes when I said to Ken that I wish I'd brought out my camera. He opened his phone and got a nice image, so I now needed a picture of my own as well! I got five before she took off...the light was low, but I thought it worth a try.
In Lightroom, I've been avoiding the Denoise icon; I've got some bad feelings about AI and want to take my own responsibility. So, yes, I opened Pandora's Box and "asked it" to show me what it could do. Wow! I was half way across our yard, and I already mentioned the light (of lack thereof!) I have to wonder if this may make us dissatisfied with what we used to think was quite crisp... It gave me more than I'd hoped for this time, but I hope I'll use it very sparingly...
I'm sure eventually we'll be using ai like Photoshop, with a few stick in the muds ( like me before I got into editting!!!). Love to see before image Louise
Don't be afraid of AI. There are some really remarkable products out there that use the technology. And I'm not talking about Adobe's controversial Generative AI, that is something quite different. Topaz, in particular, has DeNoise AI, Sharpen AI and Gigapixel AI all of which I have been using for some time. They help make our images look their best and speed up the workflow. Lightroom DeNoise is essentially the same as the Topaz product but I am so used to using Topaz I will probably continue to do so. AI is just another tool in the toolbox to use or not, as we choose.
@cdcook48 Thank you, Chris, for your thoughts on that! I had purchased Topaz for the denoise, but seldom used it. It's why I was curious to see what LR could do and I was quite overwhelmed with its capability! As some have asked to see where this photo began, I thought I might take an unused slot from the past and will note where it is. It truly is a remarkable new "tool"!
Great capture and a beautiful editing of this lovely hummingbird. Fav.
We `do n`t have those birds but twice a day a woodpeacker visit our birds dinner table. You can count on him/her.
Great capture! It's good to see you back posting. I see you have been since the beginning of the month. Somehow this is the first one I saw when I logged in.
That makes sense that Adobe would come out with its own version of DeNoise after I bought Topaz's DeNoise.
Wow very nice Louise!
I was experimenting with denoise in LR last night with my hummingbird photo that I took on a dull rainy day. It didn't come out very well!!
