Posh Goes Slumming by Weezilou

Posh Goes Slumming

Never mind that she had a full dish of sunflower seeds (that she ate) and peanuts on the wall across the yard (that she ate). She discovered I'd forgotten to put the lid back on the peanut jar and "the opportunistic child" in her couldn't resist the free-for-all Candy Counter! Ken and I were getting the biggest kick out of watching her (mostly) burying her stash around the yard.

If those things would grow, we'd be wealthy peanut farmers!
She knows how to take advantage of an opportunity, that's for sure!

Too funny...self service?

@laurieewilson so it seems! HOW do they know?!

@allie912 As I said above, HOW do they know? They must have some pretty amazing radar!

They certainly are comical! I'll bet she was scurrying around like crazy trying to get all those extra peanuts buried before the Candy Counter closed up. Too funny! :-)

She's going to hang around your place forever! I"m surprised other squirrels didn't come and pinch the buried nuts!
February 24th, 2017
was it an "oops!" for the opportunistic child?
February 24th, 2017
@summerfield I'd beed watching her scurrying back and forth...didn't catch on right way what was going on! So yes, big "oops", but I love to see (once in a while) kids having fun when they think they're getting away with mischief!

@maggiemae Surprisingly we had a couple of male squirrels for a while, but she moved in and we haven't seen the boys ince! Like she stood off the cat, I think she now thinks this is HER territory!

@gaylewood It was my good fortune the counter wasn't well stocked! It was why we just enjoyed her antics. Of course she now knows where the stash is kept!

Caught red-handed! Love the guilty look on her face!

This has made me laugh! In my previous house in Surrey my neighbours had a cob nut tree growing which overhung my fence. Every year the squirrels would pick up the nuts when they dropped and then find somewhere to bury them for later. It was normally in all my pots on the patio which had my lovely prize plants in. I would come out and find most of the soil from the pot kicked over the patio as they made space for their nuts. Nothing I did stopped them so I just gave up and let them plant their booty! Lol! Posh looks so innocent sitting there between the jars! Who me? She asks! Fav!

February 26th, 2017
@Weezilou yes I think you are right! Such a clever Posh! Lol!
February 26th, 2017
great shot, she's so cute! "My" squirrels always bury the peanuts too.
February 26th, 2017
@Weezilou I do believe you're right. Jack and Maddie both used baby sign language and it saved their parents much frustration. Apparently the signs are universal!
February 26th, 2017
So she's trying to grow her own "peanut plants" in your yard? So darn cute......
