A New Season is Coming Our Way ...

We began the day by meeting our friend, Mike, and shopping at the Farmer's Market before driving (1 hr 10 min) across the peninsula to The Annapolis Valley. We left behind the fishing town of Lunenburg to arrive in Nova Scotia's Bread Basket. First stop, blueberry picking...and Ken and I walked away withy 25# of them! Next we picked raspberries, but only got a couple of pints each. This farm is a favorite of mine, and in another month the wheelbarrows will be filled with pumpkins, squash, apples, corn and more zucchini. Today, a 6 1/2# zucchini was enough for "a lot" of tasty bread! We stopped at a favorite restaurant, The Port, alongside a Bay-of-Fundy-tidal river that rises and falls with great speed. The overcast day kept temps pleasant, lunch on the deck was delicious, and our day away was another mini-vacation.
Why do you guys come back to CA. every winter. You're having way too much fun in Nova Scotia. Oh, and you are bringing back such great memories for us of our 2010 trip to Nova Scotia, etc. We had such a good time in the Annapolis Valley community of Kentville. Attended their annual Apple Blossom Festival and parade. Lunch in a little restaurant were we had a huge dessert with berries, and not sure what else now. Just know it was awesome!

Oh Louise, my sister makes so much from the produce in her garden. Her courgettes (zucchinis) have turned into yellow skinned marrow and she was making bread, a really moist cake and soup from them!

@chard Shy an ice cream maker, our tasty substitute is to put blueberries and raspberries on vanilla ice cream and top it with a splash of Chambord liqueur... Quite a taste treat!

@aglennc Question: Why do you guys come back to CA. every winter.

@Weezilou Opps! OK, I would agree with you on that. We love visiting family in the winter in Alberta, but we get to come home -- out of all that white stuff!

@aglennc and now that we have an understanding about that, we ARE hoping for some snow before we leave in somewhat-early December! ",,,before we leave" being the operative words!

Is that wheelbarrow only two dollars? I want one and plant some flowers in it for my front garden.
Thanks for sharing you daily adventures so frank.
