As we sat on the lanai having dinner, I heard the familiar chirping nearby, and Ashley spotted him by the porch lamp. Don't analyze them too closely...their pale translucent bodies are not cuddly looking nor even hardly attractive! But there's something about Gecko's that everyone adores. They hold back the insect population, and people let them stay in their homes. And that chirping...it sounds like a bird peeping. Their little round-toed images are cast into jewelry, made into wall decor, painted on fabric and captured in a myriad of other ways that tourists take home to remember their Hawaiian holiday.
I'm happy with a photo memory of the real thing... and I rewarded his patience (as I took "lots" of photos) by leaving the light on for him.
@stray_shooter That's the sort with the Aussie accent! (I thought of the ad, too when I was photographing this guy. He has the same nose specks and little smile!)
one thing i am happy not having in my home. these guys are in abundance in manila too when we were growing up. ack! i hated them then. but when i went to mexico with some caucasian girlfriends, i was cool with them being in the room, told them hysterical sissies that they mean no harm and that they will actually eat the cockroach, if there's actually any in the cabana. one of the girls almost had a heart attack when she was in the shower and this thing fell on her breasts. i told her it was a spirit of a peeping tom and it meant no harm. they were happy to be back at the end of the the vacay! i have a lot more gecko stories but i don't want to hijack your photo. :-)
