The only place I wanted to go to dinner here was "Aloha -Mixed Plate- Seaside Grill", and tonight the kids took us to dinner. From the road, there's nothing to recommend it, but it's as authentically local as it looks, and a bit of a hidden gem! I had to laugh that, next door, tourists were paying an inordinately high sum for "A Luau", while we were eating much the same food and listening to their music!
As I'm writing this, I'm second guessing my favorite sunset photo, and I don't have time to look through them all. The clouds overhead only got more glorious as the sun went down further.
...but...it's midnight, and the kids are awake and chatting at 6:30... I'm having trouble even looking through all my photos, much less leaving comments. Please know how much pleasure it's giving me to share this island with you all, and thank you for the time you spend looking and leaving comments! Aloha and ♥
Wow! Spectacular sunset....awesome photo and a huge fav. It sounds like you all are having a wonderful time. I like local places, too. You are on vacation .... please don't even worry about comments :-)
@peggysirk Thanks, Peggy! Definitely fun...though I was off taking pictures a good deal of the time...as were many other diners! At least my family has come to expect it...
@cimes1 Thank you Carole for understanding! Yes, I think we all give our friends a pass when they're on vacation! I've got to fold for the night...and you're obviously an early riser! Thanks for liking my picture...xo
What a breath taking view. You are my kind of traveler, eat with the locals and get the benefits of the tourists surroundings. I am so glad you are having a wonderful time in paradise. I love Hawaii especially the Island of Kauai!
@seattle We'd travel well together then! Like you, Kauai is our favorite...because it's still not overrun with tourists! We were there this time last year with the family, but they wanted to come back here this trip. Let's just say, it's not Kauai, but it's not "terrible"... ;-)
