Mars and Antares are in conjunction for the next few nights. The crescent moon will come into their alignment the next two nights, and was setting on the horizon next to Saturn in this picture tonight. However, we have clouds and rain moving our way, so I thought I'd best try tonight if I wanted a photo. There's a bit of Milky Way here, with Mars and Antares must above the horizon. That bit of light pollution is from a town fifty miles south-west. We are flat out here! If the skies are clear, I will be trying to get that crescent moon in there.
I think the light pollution adds to the shot here. If you stare at this on black background more and more tiny stars become visible, just as they do when staring up at them for real.
