Photograph your ABC's V is for Voyageur

Edmonton's history is founded on the fur trade with the Hudson Bay Company playing the biggest role in that. Edmonton had its beginnings as a Hudson Bay fort. Located on the North Saskatchewan River fur traders would make their way here by way of the Voyageur canoe.
Outside of City Hall is a sculpture by a local artist that represents those canoes and our cities connection with the fur trade
It's a really beautiful sculpture! Wonderful pic of it!!! :0)

The history of your city and region is really very interesting. I love how you're combining it with the alphabet photos. I like how this sculptor took a very historical subject and did it in a very modern sculpture. Great job catching the sleekness of the metal/canoe and how it is proudly on display for all to see.

lovely capture of the sculpture - gives the context too. I did know the history from the Jack London books, but hadn't connected up where it related to now.

Nice shot...but...that doesn't looke much like a voyager canoe that would have left from these parts. :-)
