The other day I mentioned that Edmonton is hosting the World ITU Triathlon this weekend. Today Melody met me downtown after work and we took in the opening ceremonies which was held in Churchill Square.
It was such a fun time and I had the opportunity to meet and talk with athletes and visitors from around the world. Over the next couple of days I will post some individual shots but for today I decided to share this collage.
The top left is the entrance to the Square. Next is a candid shot I took of some of the members of the Mexican team who were picking up some souvenirs. Top right was taken as the teams were gathering to prepare for the Grand Parade of Nations. Bottom left is Team Canada coming in as the host nation. Then you can see the huge crowd that had gathered for the event. Finally a shot after the crowds had dispersed. This event also has a seniors competition as well. In total there are over 2000 athletes competing in a number of races at different levels
Most interesting collage and your explanation of all the different pictures. it looks like you had a great day for it weather wise. here it's only 60 degrees F. 15.5 C.
