The Armoury by bkbinthecity

The Armoury

Here is one of my pics l took in the Whyte Avenue area that never made it into the alphabet series.
This is the Connaught Armoury. Built in 1911-12 at a cost of $35,000. It is also the oldest armoury in Alberta. It was named after Prince Arthur of Connaught and Strahearn, the third son of Queen Victoria.
It served the 19th Alberta Dragoons in both World Wars.
When the Dragoons moved out of Edmonton it sat empty for 14 years. It was home to a couple of restaurants but today is used as a drop in centre for the Youth Emergency Shelter

Good military architecture and interesting bit of Albertan military history, Brian. Pleased it is still used.
