I learned that today is International Holocaust Survivor Day. Interestingly enough l came across this monument on the Legislative Grounds the other day that was dedicated to the survivors of the Holocaust. So l am paying tribute to each person who survived such a horrible ordeal. I did some research and learned that it is a cracked Kiddush Cup
The Holocaust is one of the most horrifying mistakes of the human race, showing us how low and how high the human being can reach. It is not the only one, but it is definitely representative. We must never forget, lest mistakes shall be made again.
My city’s Holocaust Memorial was built in Washington Park, which borders my neighborhood. To their eternal shame, the neighborhood association fought it tooth and nail.
A lovely shot of this memorial. It is hard to imagine the horrors that people endured in the holocaust, and it is important for us to remember their suffering.
Much coverage on the news yesterday of Holocaust Survivor day. It was suggested that we should light a candle in a window at 8pm which I remembered to do.....I should have gone outside to see if anyone else lit one but it was cold & wet.
I brought my 9th graders to Auschwitz for their last trip in school (the destination was Krakow in general), it made a huge impression ... I think we owe it to them to take them to places like that. It is tough, but they need to be there to understand why we are so serious about it.
