Frazzled pigeons

You can see some of them are lying down with their wings spread out, presumably to help with cooling. In the park, cycling back from Zumba, thankfully air conditioned.

First day of our 'phew what a scorcher' record breaking super-heatwave. Have kept away from the news so no idea what records have been broken. All I know is Sheffield where some of our staff are is hotter than London. I worked by the open bedroom window - faces north, so not too bad, though I could feel the basic atmospheric temp rising through the day.

Mum slept ok in the small spare room, and other than eating her muesli outside, has kept to the cool sitting room. Her bedroom upstairs is now steaming though, so she might move to the downstairs spare room futon.

3 good things
1. Plentiful clean drinking water. Aren't we so lucky? Not everyone is. Keep hydrated folks.
2. Summer salads for lunch and supper.
3. Dave has picked fresh mulberries from work - he managed to survive in the outdoors today at least.

There were very few birds at the feeders today, presumably seeking refuge in the shade.

More than happy to take some of that heat off your hands, I'm over winter!

Nice to see that most of the pigeons are being sensible and are in the shade!

Poor things. I have been watching the news, and it is quite unbelievable how hot it is there. Very unusual. We should feel very lucky to have clean drinking water!
