Belly dancers by boxplayer

Belly dancers

Got the train after work to meet Dave after work at Turkey Street so we could drive west to Wantage for a weekend of music workshops with Monty's Maggot. Proceedings on the train to Turkey Street were mildly enlivened by the chap singing along to his MP3 player at the top of his voice. Dark and misty by the time I arrived and we had to put the fog lights on at one point along the M40 as it got quite thick at one point.

Arrived in Wantage in good time to check into one of our favourite B&Bs - lovely, comfortable rooms with lots of nice touches: upmarket biscuits, chocolates and fruit in a bowl, mineral water and a little fridge with fresh milk. This time we were in a little annexe in the back garden, so I was looking forward to meeting the rabbits and chickens (source of the breakfast eggs) in the morning.

Met Anna in Yummy Thai for a bit of a Thai splurge: sweetcorn cakes, prawns in fresh chilli sauce with rice and the most enormous battered scallops. We were all a touch stuffed as we made our way to the Shoulder of Mutton for a session. A good evening of playing music, enlivened this time by the troupe of belly dancers that were in the pub when we arrived and did their belly thing along to the music - there was rather a large expanse of wobbly flesh on view.

At previous weekends, we've been able to carry on playing till at least 1am but the pub now has a grumpy neighbour so we had to turn into pumpkins and finish at 12. No chickens when we got back to the B&B but we said hello to the rabbits in their hutch.

love the contrast between the different traditions on show here. Oh dear, wonder what happened to the chooks

@jantan - the chooks were all hiding in their little coop away from the nasty old foxes ...
