Freya's Frolics play a couple of numbers for a ceilidh in the village hall in Grove. I'm hiding at the back, you can just see my head. Obviously I didn't take this picture.
Woke up about 5.30 with Dave heading for the loo - unfortunately he wasn't feeling too good. Not sure if it was the overdosing on Thai food or the three very strong pints of porter he'd quaffed in a short space of time. But he seemed OK by the time we headed to the dining room for a stonkingly good breakfast. Then a morning workshop with Ian Dedic looking at playing tunes for dancing, including four different ways to play Donkey Riding. There was the usual enormous vegetarian lunch in the Shoulder of Mutton - not sure where he gets his veggie sausages from but I couldn't resist them. Then another workshop in the afternoon with Jo Freya looking at the tunes we would be performing in the evening. Dinner seemed to come all too quickly and none of us was particularly hungry but I had a bit of the tasty veggie chilli.
We then headed down the road for a mile or so to Grove where the evening's ceilidh was happening. Each of the workshop groups, three in all, performed two dance sets with a caller to a real live crowd. When our band got up to do its couple of numbers, I managed to muddle my way through, probably playing about one correct note in 5, but we weren't miked up properly, so I'm sure nobody noticed. A fun evening, getting the chance to dance as well as play. We left 10-ish so we could go and have another session in the Mutton. A slightly quieter affair this evening, but not in a bad way - no dominant characters and everyone had a chance to participate.
