Lucy has had to miss two days of school this week due to striking teachers. There was a scant amount of work set for them to do, but certainly not the amount they would have done in school. Obviously, she was quite happy with this & soon found something else to do!
Lucy is filling her time beautifully. Sad to miss vital school lessons especially at Lucy’s age…..I’m not a strike fan to be honest…..talk talk. Times are hard for all.
Love the concentration on Lucy's face..
Striking teachers seem to be a problem everywhere.. Kids here have hardly had a full week of school.. either striking or teacher shortages .. poor kids..
I taught for awhile until I went back to school to get a degree in computer science. Every time the union talked strike I just dreaded it, because I felt it was wrong to deprive the kids that had nothing to do with the negotiations. Fortunately for me and the kids at that time, strike was avoided. I left teaching shortly after.
Never believe them when they say they are "striking for the students"- it's always about pay and benefits. I have several friends who teach here and they hate it when the union forces them to walk. It's good to see Lucy has found something creative to do. I have a granddaughter named Lucy who also loves the textile arts- how about that?!
