Bomber Command Memorial, Lincoln

We went here today for breakfast. Then had wander round the grounds, which provide an opportunity to photograph across the city.
This the central memorial Spire, which represents two wing fragments of an Avro Lancaster tapering towards the sky. It stands 31.9m high. It can be seen above the city of Lincoln on the opposite hill to the cathedral .
A great memorial making quite a statement.

That sure is making a statement, fabulous shot.

Always a sombre place to visit; the height of the spire, as you say, 31.9m (102’), is the exact width of an Avro Lancaster’s wingspan.

this is lovely. I've seen your cathedral. If this is at the other end of town it must make for a truly wonderful contract in times and sentiment. well done
