Recognise me? by carole_sandford

Recognise me?

This is a rather crisp poinsettia leaf, still retaining a certain beauty though. I did say I was rubbish at keeping these!
Many thanks for your visits & comments on yesterday's fat squirrel, much appreciated.
I love the simplicity of this , with the withered poinsettia leaf contorted as it dried out . I love the rich tones and almost an abstract image -- big fav Carole !

beautiful textures - does that mean the whole plant is heading this way?

@koalagardens not yet 😉

Still quite colourful.

Our Poinsettia’s always end up like this. That’s a great macro Carole.

It's all down to the wind - that they get before they arrive with us. Ha ha. I have never managed to keep one. The best one I have ever seen belonged to my late Mother-in-law. It was brilliant in colour and texture. (No-one would ever know that it was artificial) so it came out every year and was always admired.

@mandygravil Ha ha maybe that’s the answer!

I love the texture and the unusual shape they assume as they dry out - gorgeous!

Beautiful shape & still colourful...

I agree, they do retain a certain beauty as they dry up and shrivel away. Nice shot! :-)

Nicely done.

@mandygravil That's definitely the answer!! Mine is gradually dropping its leaves and looking more like a stick plant!! This is a great abstract shot.

Yes, even crispy leafs can be beautiful. I trashed my poinsettias just after Christmas ... I was so tired of cleaning up all the dropping leaves.

I wouldn’t have recognised it. We’re rubbish with poinsettias too but we do have a rather nice artificial one which comes out every Christmas. We haven’t managed to kill that.

There is still beauty in its decay...
