Today we went up to the International Bomber Command Centre in Lincoln. They currently have an art installation to commemorate 80 years since the Dambusters raid on several German Dams. Guy Gibson was the Squadron Leader of 617 Squadron & Barnes Wallis was the inventor of the bouncing bomb, used on this raid. They are the only two people in this installation that came back. In all out of 133 air crew that took part, 53 men were killed & 3 became POWs. On the ground almost 1300 people were killed by the flooding. It caused some industrial disruption, but only for about four months.
