The Locket 2 -- Ethel Butler Thomas (EBT)

I thought I would take another shot of the locket to show the pretty monogram on the outside of the locket. Alternate shot of it in the day before's post can be found here: https://365project.org/darylo/2021/2021-03-07

Inside the locket are the photos of my grandmother (Ethel Butler Thomas Hunter) as a very young child on the right and on the left her mother (Ethel Ray Butler Thomas). And I'm a little not sure now if the locket was the monogram of my grandmother's name or her mother's married name (which would be Ethel Butler Thomas because Ray was her initial middle name). So my grandmother and Great grandmother had the same name. Her mother looks older in the locket. There is also a strand of her hair in the locket, so my assumption is that it was a gift to her daughter at some point. I'll never know.

I was given the locket by my grandmother in my adult years--I wear it at times, but only if I am doing something that will not require too much movement for fear I could lose it. I believe the chain is one I found for it because I seem to remember the original chain being more muted.

I'm not sure what my photo will be today (I'm not behind in photos, but I am behind in posting--this is yesterday's photo).

A note about my great grandmother: my grandmother's parents divorced when she was young. I do know her mother moved back to Maryland where she was from and then later went to live in Atlantic City to work as a house bidder for a local auction house.
What a gorgeous family heirloom. Just think of all the stories it could tell!!

Two lovely photos Daryl. I especially love the composition of this one, though the story and photographs in the first one were compelling.
